In the restaurant right now enjoying a delish taco salad with my husband and 2 customers have come in so far complaining that they have tried to call in orders but the phone line was busy. One guy said he called over 10 times. I got curious and decided to call since I could see the phone and knew that no one was using it and it was busy! Then I heard the girl (young chubby spanish girl that was at the register and supposedly watching the phone and taking orders) insult the other customer (in Spanish behind her back) who had complained that she couldn’t call in her order (an elderly woman)! We know the owner of the taco Vasquez’s and have eaten his taco salad since he worked at El Tenampa that closed a couple years ago. We eat at both taco Vasquez restaurants fairly often but we have had a bit of difficulty lately calling in orders at this location. I guess now we know why. Yesterday we tried to call in an order at 8:30 (they close at 9:30) and it was busy. We rang back 3 more times and on the 3rd ring a guy answered with the words (in Spanish) “we’re closed” and my husband said “but I thought you guys closed at 9:30” and the guy said “yeah but we ran out of chicken and everything”. I’d hate to see this place go down hill. Maybe time to...
Read moreI love this place. The food is always fresh, in spite of what the setting would imply. This is the second location they've opened, and the food is just as great as the first. The food is so fresh, it is my only exception to my ban on Mexican leftovers. Yeah, you can reheat the next day and it's still better than most restaurants. It's that good. I used to get the Burritos or the Mexican pizza most of the time. Then I discovered the Tortas. I never knew a sandwich could melt in your mouth, but somehow, it does. The bread is soft. The queso and avocado blend into a creamy texture that mix with the meat to make a delicious blend.
I just hope they never stop making their food the way they do. I hope the bankers and business minds never convince them to compromise their ingredients for cost and profits. This is authentic Mexican food at it's best. Maybe the gas station setting adds that little edge of authenticity. Maybe walking past the stale gas station donuts and month old cinnamon rolls reminds us of waking up at 4:30 am to go to work. What ever it is, the delight on your pallet will make all the mediocrity of the world fade away for a...
Read moreI learned about this place from my movers. I gave each a $20 tip and they became super happy. They told me they are going to Taco Vazquez for the best Mexican food around! Who said that great food can’t be made in a convenience store? This food is awesome and authentic! The portions are ample, the service efficient and friendly. If you are looking for dining atmosphere, this is not it. There is a little indoor seating and a picnic table outside for those who are grabbing a quick meal. But many people call ahead and pick up. If they say it will be ready in 15 minutes, be there in ten. They are quick, so be there if you don’t want to reheat when you get home. They serve all day, including breakfast. Their menu is posted in the store overhead. I’ve posted photos here. If you want your entree with rice and beans, order that separately. My husband and I usually split an order of enchiladas (3) with rice and beans. Quesadillas are a hit too. Most meals are just under $10. If you add rice and beans you’ll be just over $10. I don’t think you can miss at this restaurant! So good! If you appreciate this review, please...
