The Holiday House Restaurant — Restaurant in Florida

My order was $40.28, includes 15% delivery tip. It returned pick up order and I called the store immediately to canceled and stop payment. The waitress said "how am I supposed to do that" . The response is what got me very nervous! There was no one there who could do it. They called the boss, he tried to return the money didn't work. Now I called again today 7-10-2024, still no one there who could do it. Calling the boss again. I am going to write a poor review everyday until my money is returned!!! It 7-11-2024 still pending no return... 7-12-24 my money still is pending. Called my bank to check for fraud, can't do anything for pending. They said it normally should be in now but its not, so giving another day to see what happens. The owner has contacted me, very unfriendly person who threatens. My money is not available to me and continues to be held. I hope this place isn't like gas stations that hold money and sometimes it stays held. I will be checking back with my bank tomorrow. I posted a copy of a portion of my receipt as soon as I learned it was set for pick up I called to make sure they didn't start preparing the meal. I made it in time. it shows I paid $4.83 for tip for the delivery. My google account doesn't give better break down. I did order for delivery I would not tip for pick up. 7-13-24 My bank informed me that the funds are no longer pending. I see all your poor reviews you seem to pick a fight instead of work it out. All the harassing texts you sent telling me how well you know how to threaten people does have me concerned since you know my address. Maybe if when I called the person said "thank you for calling I understand your concern we will return money and cancel order" and then just called you and be done with it. I was told "how am I supposed to do that" verbatim. Not good service deserves a 1!!! You did threaten me with texting at least 12 messages, most very threatening. As I think about this I may have a sheriff come and read them to make sure I am not in any kind of threat or will be harmed. You texts are very worrisome!!! Your harassing texts are illegal!!! The service I used for delivery was called BentoBox on your web page. They accepted delivery but it was returned as pick up in my email. That is why I called. Your threatening manner and want to fight instead of being a professional. Regardless of any of it do you treat your customers so poorly that if an inadvertent mistake happens we are chastised for calling you out for such an unprofessional reply... "How am I supposed to do that". every consumer would get nervous about that... 7/21 still getting threats. Okay. 5 years ago, give or take a month or two, I gave this place a pretty good star rating. We have eaten there almost every weekend since then. It didn't matter what the time of day, we always had good food.

Saturday 3/8/25 we went for a late breakfast early lunch, it was around 11:00 a.m.. We noticed the interior was being redone. Nice upgrade and it will be nice when it is done. Our traveling buddies, whom we eat there with a lot, got to talking. The menu had been redone as well and the print was gaudy and the print was so large that you could read it a table away. It was also held together with cheap key rings that snapped together. The menu had been overly simplified and some items were missing, like the Patty Melt(one of my favorites). After ordering and several cups of coffee later, we noticed that our food was taking a long time to get out. It had almost been 30 minutes. We asked the waitress if the normal Line Chef was working and she said he no longer worked there. That just tossed up a whole lot of questions. It finally came down to the ultimate question. Was it under new management? She said "yes". Evidently some young folks from New York state had bought it. That explained the upgrades and the long wait time. Old Chef was good and food never took long to get out. W. My wife ordered Country fried steak and scrambled eggs with hash browns and dry wheat toast. I ordered a standard 2 eggs up with hash browns and sausage links with an English Muffin. D. & M. ordered their normal stuff and it came out fine except M's toast was black on one side and near black on the other side. W's came out as an omelet with chopped up steak in it, hash browns and burnt toast. Black on one side and almost burnt on the other side. Needless to say, she sent it back and didn't order anything to replace it. My meal came out with eggs sunny side up and literally an order of hash browns the same size as the 2 eggs. That is about half of what it used to be. The sausage links were some knockoff sausage that looked like brown and serve sausage that was not browned, but warmed up. Obviously microwaved. I used to get real sausage links that had sausage and a casing around it. My English muffin was cold with just a little butter in the middle about the size of a quarter. Needless to say, I ate the hash browns and eggs and left the rest. The owner was there that day and stopped by to see how our meal was. Well D. answered him honestly. She told him the food was terrible. M. and I agreed, and we mentioned that they had totally messed up W's meal. She also told him the best thing he had going that day was the wait staff. D. told him not to get rid of any of them. We have been having the same waitresses for more than 5 years and we love them dearly. They are always happy, greet us with a smile and gave us an awesome dining experience. They still did; even with the food being crap. Needless to say, my current review is from recent visits. We will not be going back to Holiday House again any time soon. It is pretty sad to loose customers like us. We always tipped well and the wait staff love us. Sorry for the wait staff if this place doesn't get it's act together.

OK folks, if you happen to find yourself over in Holiday, Florida, please check out this locals fav of a diner, called The Holiday House Restaurant. The Google reviews were right, the place is down home for sure, and full of regulars that come in probably daily. It’s very impressive to watch the wait staff and the manager greet most of the customers by name and definitely by face! You don’t have to wait to get a menu and the servers are right on it. They actually look like they enjoy their job. The place is small & located in a plaza but I sat in there for a while and that place is a revolving door! It revolves faster than a waffle house and yes it is full of grandparents. Meaning that a lot of the local seniors go here because Holiday, Florida is definitely a retirement town. But everyone was friendly, mannerable & welcoming. I was there by myself, but people were greeting me and wishing me well, smiling and nodding their heads at me. I also found out that the manager is from Georgia like myself so we had a great convo about that! If I’m back in the area, I’ll definitely stop in again and the cook was just one guy I believe his name was Curtis and he whipped those meals up so fast everything was good and fresh. I only wished the coffee was stronger, it was very weak & I shouldn’t have to ask for napkins. I love hidden gems! Thanks...
