The Office at the Crossroads — Restaurant in Florida

What an awesome find for a country lovin not-a-cowboy legal immigrant to this Great Country!

I walked in on a whim just as the usual lunch-hour was ending. Having already had a day-and-a-half of morning's work related nonsense, I stepped into a whole different world. It was cozy, comfy, and up-close-and-personal.

Behind the bar standing real tall at maybe five two iis Ms Annette sporting what I presume was her white cowgirl hat.

She's clearlyva piece of work, and an original - tough as nails, no-nonsense gal yet one that has a kind and loving heart for those allowed into her inner circle. Trust me, she's seen it all. And she knows how to manage and run her "Office"

I ordered the breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, sausage, and a side of the restaurant's hottest sauce. The sandwich was just right, and hit my hankering for breakfast i hadn't eaten yet.

The sauce was kinda mild. Not bad as far as hot sauces go but I could've gone up few notches on that Scoville scale. Spicy is an acquired taste for most but I was born right into spicy food country, hence the predilection!

Made small talk with a regular, Terry, who it turned out is a retired St. Pete firefighter and while in St. Pete, Terry lived but a mile or two from my own condo on Isla del Sol.

A small world, indeed!

Terry tried hard to get myself interested in the house cheeseburger and even though it was tempting, I'd need a full day of gym and what not to work off those ungodly calories, saturated fats, salt and what not. It has to be a shared meal, the super-size me marketing gimmick doesn't work past the age I was 15 years back.

As I was leaving, Annie (she gave myself permission to call her Annie because I'm older) said, come back anytime.

This little cottage with tons of character started out as a gas station. Imagine the stories lurking within those old heart pine walls! And the new owners are adding more chapters to its rich history.

A nice change from your concrete & mortar corporate watering holes, it ain't nothing fancy or new.

Many tales of tasty burgers lured us off the road and into The Crossroads! Finally. I backed the ol' F250 into a perfect spot in the dirt parking lot. An easy task as we were the only vehicle there....for now.

We were greeted at the door by Laurie, a name often mentioned in 5-Star reviews. Turns out those reviews were right! About Laurie and as we were soon to find out, those hamburgers!

Accompanied by my Fab One we bellied up to the bar, ordered an adult beverage and without hesitation we both ordered Cheeseburgers all the way.

As we sat there, we looked around and tried to picture the past in this place. It was a cool feeling.

In no time we were treated to the sweet sound of sizzling meat. A wave of juicy OHHHH-romas swept us up and teased us! Mouthwatering wow was all around us! We heard a splash. Followed by that crinkling bubbling sound of crisping French fries. Our baskets o' burgers were soon to be.

In not time, Laurie brought them out. Big damn burgers! Really good damn burgers..

A stream of flavor fell as I munched down. A rain of molecules. Of grease. The good stuff.

REALLY enjoyed the entire occasion. Meeting Laurie. Seeing the inside of this place after wondering for so long. And biting into those burgers. EVERYTHING we expected and hoped...

The Office is a well worn, rustic watering hole with good food and icy cold beer 🍺 It has a friendly neighborhood pub vibe. It's the sort of place where you get a feeling that if the building could talk, it would have endless yarns to share. 😄 ↪️ The cheeseburger & fries are outstanding 🤌😋 The cheeseburger is multi‐napkin juicy! The crinkle cut fries (my favorite👍) are hot & crispy. ↪️ The Taco Tuesday tacos 🌮 are excellent.👍They're generously heaped with tasty beef. The black beans & rice are oh so good. 😋 ↪️ My Greyhound wingman gives two paws up for the gooey, cheesy cheese grits.👌

The owners are very welcoming, kind & friendly.
