20 Mile round trip ride on the Good Neighbor Trail. Starts in Brooksville and ends at withlacoochee state park. The Brooksville side leaves a little to desire as it follows, the powerlines which are currently being upgraded as well as going through some residential and commercial/industrial areas, but the section through Croom is awesome! This is another “Rail to Trail” path that uses old railroad right of ways. the entire trail is paved, and there is no sign of the railroad except for the rail station at the very beginning. Of course, had to stop by Florida Cracker Kitchen to get a spicy Bloody Mary afterwards!

Nice Bicycle trial, all paved, mostly flat, some hills. Round trip is 20 miles. There a couple of roadway you must cross. Found this gopher tortoise on the trial! The US foresters were doing some localized under growth burn on the day we rode, just a little smokey, no biggie. Would definitely recommend. We are new to Bicycle riding and we are in are 60s and we made it.

Today I rode from the Trailhead by the Train Museum through downtown and out through Tom Varn park and up to the new overpass by the Truck route. The blockads were gone from the trail itself, but still on both new overpasses. And the crossing points on both U.S.41 and S.R.98 are sketchy at best. I can only surmise that when all the work is done, as in signage and lines, it will be better. As a resident of Brooksville and an avid bicycle rider I was looking forward to this being open. Is there a "Grand Opening" and finish date on the schedule ???? If so, posting an announcement would sure...

I took my new bike out for the first ride today. I wanted to get a feel for adjusting gears and general seat height handlebars etc. I found this trail by googling bike trails by me. It was a really nice trail free of debris and lots of markings at road crossings. The only thing that made me uneasy was the homeless who live in the gazebo. They came up to me and asked for money or food. Now, I am sensitive to people in need and don’t mind chatting with anyone, but I was by myself and I just wanted to go enjoy my new bike. It took away from the experience. ...
