Before I begin with my review of the food. I shall say this. Coney Island Drive Inn is lacking in their customer service. I can only surmise the employees presume everyone is local. This, for me, however, is not the case. Far from it in fact.
Customer Service: Ignored, argumentative, concerned with only production.
The food. I gave mine away. I just did not find it appetizing.
My order consisting of a med. drink and 3 chilli dogs with cheese , mustard, and onions came to $15.00. This is a bit expensive, but okay. They also charge more for credit vs cash.
Upon recieving my order above I was given x3 chilli dogs, with onion, mustard, and "american" cheese". I was completely puzzeled at this. I had to ask what cheese I got to be sure. Apparently, they have three types of cheese. Shredded, Nacho, and American. I was then promptly notified that i have to specify.
Now, mind you, no where on the menu does it state the types of cheese. This was also my first visit and being told that I should ask before hand, that was quite audacious.
Of my chilli dogs the only thing I could taste was the OVERWHELMING flavor of all beef hotdogs. I couldnt taste the flavor of the chilli which should have been the star of the dog.
While indeed, Coney did remake my chilli dogs with the proper cheese I was so put off by their customer service and the lack luster that is their chilli dogs I had unfortunately lost my appetite after consuming only but one chilli dog.
Needless to say, I will not be eating here again while I am working in the area for the next 6...
Read moreI came in today for the second day in a row for the 65Th anniversary. On 07/09/2025, I ordered four foot-long’s total two of them were correct. Two of them were incorrect. I let it go for the fake that they were 30 minutes from closing and did not want to be a hassle. I come in today on 07/10/2025 ordered 4 more foot longs this time the order is completely wrong. I did not realize until I got home just like with my first order that the food was incorrect and I guess from now on I will not be making that Mistake again. I drove back to Coney Island to discuss and show what was wrong with my food in the hurry to get bac I did not bring the food with me which I did not think it was a problem but apparently it was and I was told I could not exchange the food even thought I had a valid picture with the incorrect items and the lady running the register was able to pull up my exact order by my name since it had been less than 25 minutes that I was there. I am extremely disappointed With how I was treated in this issue as I’ve lived in Brooksville my whole life and have spent countless amount of money at this restaurant. I will not be quick to return not because of human error, but because of the way I was treated for An error that I had not made. I was specifically told it was on me and my fault for not checking the bags before I left the restaurant. That is extremely poor customer service blaming The customer for a kitchen mistake. Please do better with customer handling and resolution of mistakes NOT caused by...
Read moreThis is a good and fun place to get hot dogs. While they do serve other dishes like hamburgers and fish sandwiches, the hot dogs are their specialty and if you stick with their normal hot dogs, you will be satisfied. They are plump and juicy, and the Nathan dogs are even better. I have tried their gimmicky gator dog, but the gator sausage was well done and lacked the flavor and juiciness of the normal dogs. For drinks, I do enjoy their milkshakes, which are on the thicker side, requiring a spoon to scoop out sometimes. The prices are very reasonable with the dogs being about 3 to 6 dollars for a foot long and the shakes being any 3 to 5 dollars. While credit cards are accepted, they do offer a small discount if you pay in cash.
Service is on the counter and available indoors or outdoors. The staff are pretty friendly and helpful. The indoor seating is ample and has old memorabilia as well as a pacman and coin pusher arcade. The outdoor area also has ample seating near the parking lot, and there is a mechanical horse ride that up to 3 kids (or kid at heart adults) can ride for just a quarter. There is more seating in the back and there is a stage in the back for live music. There is also a party room with more indoor seating and mechanical rides.
This restaurant is very close to downtown Brooksville and located next to a gun shop. There is ample parking, but it can get a bit busy and crowded during the weekends. It is worth a visit if you are looking for some good hot dogs when visiting the...
