Guy and I have driven by Twistee Treat many times on our way to visit mom but have never stopped. It's such a small place that if you blink you've passed it. We've meant to stop, we just blinked at the wrong time. Today we planned to stop. The cute ice cream cone building brings back memories of childhood and more relaxed days. We had kid sized swirl cones. Not a bad deal at $2.00 each. These tasted better than the soft serve you get at most fast food places. (But my taste buds still belong to Chick-fil-A's ice dream.) There are a few bench style tables outside but there's no inside seating. You can walk up to the window or use the drive thru. The menu offers only soft serve ice cream. They have sundaes, shakes, cones and floats. There are a few food items but I won't comment on them because we didn't try them. First came here a couple days ago and ordered a chocolate shake—was pleasantly surprised, enough to come back the next day and order the same thing. Again, I was impressed, so I returned today, repeating the order. This time, I noticed the outside ordering menu had undergone a sleek, corporate-style renovation—often a signal of cost-cutting masked as “branding.” I was charged over $7, whereas the same shake had been under $7 the past two days. I shrugged it off—I’m used to price creep. But when I got my shake, it was half the thickness and density of the previous two visits. Same cup size, but noticeably lighter—a clear reduction in quality and portion, disguised behind surface consistency. We have been coming here for quite awhile. Came to ight and had the absolute worst service. The girls working were rude, acted as though we were disturbing them when we pulled up and ordered, and we waited for 15 mins for 2 shakes and a cup of ice cream. When we got it the cup of ice cream it was completely melted and the shakes were warm. Why?!?!?! We didn't want anymore interaction with them as they seemed "very busy," and we were just over it at that point. It wasn't a busy night. We were the only car in line. It shouldn't have been this way.
