I have been a regular customer at Wally's Southern BBQ and have always had incredible experiences in the past. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me feeling disappointed and unsatisfied.
To start, I ordered the chili, expecting the usual burst of flavors that Wally's is known for. However, to my dismay, the chili lacked the usual zest and was surprisingly bland. It was a far cry from the delicious and bold flavors I have come to associate with Wally's signature dishes.
Additionally, I opted for a salad, which the waitress, Cheryl, kindly offered to substitute with romaine lettuce due to the poor quality of their iceberg lettuce. Although the gesture was appreciated, the salad itself fell short of my expectations. Despite having various ingredients, it lacked the usual freshness and flavor that Wally's is known for.
To make matters worse, my date ordered the baby back ribs, which unfortunately resulted in them feeling sick later on. This was a significant drawback and added to our overall disappointment with the dining experience.
While I understand that off days can happen to any establishment, it is disheartening to receive subpar food and experience at a place that I have previously raved about. I genuinely hope that Wally's can address these issues and regain its former glory, as I believe it has the potential to be exceptional once again.
I appreciated the sweet and attentive service provided by Cheryl, and she was perfect during this visit. It is worth mentioning that her efforts to accommodate the lettuce substitution were commendable, even though the end result fell short, but certainly no fault on her behalf.
I sincerely hope that Wally's Southern BBQ takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving the overall dining experience. I will remain hopeful that my next visit will bring back the mouthwatering flavors and quality that I have normally come to associate with this...
Read moreLet me say first, that the food is phenomenal, which is why I keep going back...but the service could definitely use improvement! I walk with a cane, for which the reason makes sitting in booths a challenge. My mother-in-law was going to meet my husband and me, and she also has a difficult time with booths. For this reason, I asked to be seated at a table. The hostess seemed annoyed at this request, and asked if I really needed a table, or would a half booth/half table be okay. I explained that I would prefer a table only, and told her that I would be happy to wait for one, even if it took a while. She, again, suggested the half table option, and wanted to walk me across the restaurant to show it to me. Since I walk with a cane, I was a bit taken aback by her asking me to do so, just to show me a table/booth that I had already declined, and my husband was still parking the car, so he could not reinforce my request for a table. I even tried to explain my reasons (not that should have had to), but by now, a crowd of people were coming in. So, I reluctantly accepted the table/booth, just as my husband walked in, so he had no idea of what had just taken place. When he saw the table/booth that we were escorted to, he was surprised, and asked me if it was okay, to which the hostess immediately piped in that I had already agreed to that seating. But, at the end of the night, the food was fantastic, as always, and I will anticipate the hostess' attitude for my next visit. I just don't understand why I should have to, seeing as though I assured the hostesses that I would not mind waiting for my desired seating. Regardless of my physical disability, my request should have been honored,...
Read moreThis was our first time at Wally's. They have some great flavors, we had regular, smokey, BBQ, and some spicier items too. The kids' dinners were initially too hot (temperature) for kids to begin eating. Two of the adult’s dinners were served warm, NOT hot at all. My smoked chicken was tender and juicy on the inside, but the outside was hard to bite, nevertheless mouthwatering flavor. The sweet potato fries were amazing, the green beans with bacon were too. They do not offer mashed potatoes, huge disappointment to a few of us, but easy to get over it due to variety of other side dishes. The nachos were mountainous, cheesey, and had just the right amount of spice, but lacked tomatoes and onions. The large portions ALMOST make up for the high prices. Seating is VERY cramped, the floors looked dirty (maybe just dingy), and the tabletops looked worn. This venue would benefit greatly from some renovations and remodeling, or maybe changing locations. The place was full but not at all packed, and quite LOUD. We had a friendly and very helpful waiter, despite all the chaos. The self-proclaimed owner, a moderately large man, overcrowded the entrance and appeared to double as the host but didn't actually seat anyone. The CHAOTIC atmosphere stemmed from the owner's perch at a podium; he didn't really do anything except stand there and take up poorly utilized space as he barked orders to staff that clearly already knew what they were doing. If I ever do choose this establishment again, I will order take-out and hope the portions are comparable...
