Edit from two years ago ( photo from amount of bread was left after my sandwich) I shouldn't have to buy a side of sauce when I'm buying two different items. I would assume if you order hush puppies it would come with a side of cocktail sauce and when I buy a fish sandwich, it should come with a side of tarter sauce.. that being said,
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of one of your employees. I came back and my experience was pretty much the same as far as the friendliness of the staff. I was greeted this time but the vibe in there when I guess I walk in is like I'm bothering them. Today's grouper sandwich was not what I was hoping. The tomato was thicker than the fish. I understand it's 6 oz for the grouper fish sandwich so I'm sure it was but I got a sigh and a weird look about asking for a cocktail sauce for my hush puppies that were a side order($1 for three) and I wanted tartar sauce for the fish sandwich. I'm not one of those who find fault in everything and have been in the restaurant business my whole life but I do at least great with smiles and since we can't see smiles under the mask the eyes should at least say it but it doesn't seem like any of your employees are ever in a good mood. Maybe it's different if I was in there all the time and they got to know me or I got to know them but as someone just walking in there that's never been there before it's not the friendliest place
Market is amazing but today I ordered the BOGO fish and chips. Each worker there were not smiling and grouchy. I even said how are you and the dude just looked at me with no response. Ok. Cool. I ordered my food then since I ordered hushpuppies on the side I asked for cocktail sauce for them and tarter sauce for the fish. He told me no, only one side of sauce. I thought he was joking but no smile, no nothing. So to the owner. I would've paid extra for extra sauce but I wish I knew his name shut that down fast. I've been coming here for a few years but your employees today were not welcoming, not even a little. I'm actually bummed about this...
Read moreNot the same Ward's it used to be. My wife was on the alert system for tile fish. She got a message yesterday saying Tile fish was in. On her way there today, she got another call saying the tile fish was in(20 lbs he said) and to come get some. She gets there and walks in and asks for tile fish. She is told by the guy that he did not think there was any. She told him she got a call in the last 15 minutes on her way there saying there was and so he went back to check. He comes back and says there was one fish left but she had to take the whole thing. She asked why he could not fillet it like normal and he repeated she had to take the whole fish. We are talking a fish big enough to feed 20 people...WTH. I doubt this is the owner's standpoint so owner be ware of how your employees are treating your customers. This is not the first issue either. She asked for 1.25 pounds of Salmon last time and was handed almost 2 lbs and was told take it or leave it. $35/lb salmon on top of that. I guess I should mention that my wife was waiting today when a woman walked in and right in front of her and when my wife told her she had been waiting, the woman screamed at the top of her lungs at my wife.
UPDATE: This is in reply to the owner's response. When my wife got to Wards, she was told there was one fish left and she had to take the whole fish and showed it to her. It may not have been 20 lbs, but it was WAY more than we would normally purchase and it did not make sense as we would not be able to use it. Why they could not fillet what my wife requested and leave the rest for the next person is still a mystery. If this was the requirement, whomever called her to let her know Tile fish was in should have made this stipulation clear. Someone did call a number of days later, prompted by my original review per the person who called, and she offered to sell the fish to my wife. Given the fish had to be 4 or 5 days out of the water at least at that point, my...
Read moreI am giving one star for the restaurant. I have a gluten intolerance which I explained to the cashier. I can have trace amounts of gluten when I take special pills to help digest them. I took these pills knowing that there is always risk of contamination. I asked the cashier if the fries, fish, or shrimp contained any wheat. He wasn't sure so he asked the woman in the kitchen if there was any wheat flour in the shrimp, fish, scallops or fries. She laughed and said no. The laugh was not a friendly laugh. Still against my better judgement we got the basket and requested five more shrimp be added. I checked in with the cashier to confirm that I said grilled. I am not one to complain but when we got the food the shrimp was FRIED. Now when someone requests grilled and no wheat, you definitely don't expect fried battered shrimp! I like to think the best of people so I told myself she wasn't malicious but maybe got confused. I did not eat from that side of the basket and I ate the grilled fish and grilled scallops, which was supposed to have no flour. My issue is that I don't feel sick right away, until my body starts to try to digest the food. This is normally after a couple of hours of eating. On our trip home I started to throw up and I have been having severe stomach issues since eating here. DO NOT Eat here if you have any issues with gluten! The COOK will maliciously laugh at you and lie and say no there is no flour when there obviously is. She will also make part of your food fried when grilled was requested. This was not a cheap meal to throw up! ($20 for the platter plus $5 for the extra small 5 shrimp) It has been over three days and I am still very sick from this food. I haven't had this problem when eating gluten free food at a fast food place, when I take my glutenzyme. This tells me that the food did contain wheat and not just trace amounts. I am very upset...
