I typically have good experiences with Mattingly's, however, the visit & service we received yesterday evening was surprisingly poor. Let me paint the scene: we arrived at 6:30pm and placed our drink orders (2-waters & 2-sodas...there were a total of 4 people). The drinks arrived quickly, which was great. But, our waiter did not ask if were ready to order/wanted an appetizer...which we did. About 5-ish minutes later he returned and we placed the order for our 2 appetizers (Spinach Dip and Fried Pickles). 5 minutes later, we then placed the order for our main course (1-pizza, 3-salads, 1-buffalo wrap and 6-wings)...this was around 6:45pm.
We chatted at the table for about 20-minutes before we began to wonder where our appetizers were. We hadn't seen our waiter since we placed our order. Our waiter then swung by the table with soda refills, but he did not comment anything. He also mumbled 95% of the time he was speaking with us; we couldn't really understand what he was saying when he would come back. About 30-minutes after ordering the apps, we finally received them.
We ate the apps and then we waited some more. By 7:30, we started to look around for our waiter because he once again seemingly disappeared - he never checked in with us on whether the food was good or if we needed anything else. Sure enough he swung by again with even more refills, but never took the dirty cups and left the dirty app plates at the table. The waiter then took off again without a clear word. Mind you, 3 of us ordered salads - mine was the most basic salad (lettuce, cheese and croutons only) and it was 45-50 minutes since we ordered those items and there were no salads in sight.
We started to become frustrated because we were noticing the tables around us who had the other 2-waiters were coming in after us and were receiving their food in a reasonable amount of time...and those waiters would frequently come back to them and check in on how everything was going. Meanwhile, our waiter was nowhere in sight, AGAIN.
Around 7:45pm, our salads, wings, buffalo wrap and pizza arrived. The buffalo chicken wrap did not have buffalo sauce on it, but our friend was concerned about how long it would take our waiter to come back with the sauce, so he just ate it the way it came. The salads were the best part of the main course - the wings were alright, but had light sauce on them and the pizza was just awful. It was suuuuper thin...not like your traditional thin crust...this had the thickness of Sacramental bread/wafer that you would eat in church. The cheese wasn't even fully melted in the middle, the bottom of the crust was pale and the overall warmth of the pizza was cooler than room temperature.
Our waiter continued to bring refills that we didn't need (while leaving the dirty dishes in the middle), never asked if we needed anything or even how the food tasted. He brought take home containers; well, he actually tossed them on top of the dirty dishes which caused the bottom of the take home containers to get dirty. We decided not to take home the leftovers. He came back with the bill and we quickly paid and left.
Like I said, we normally enjoy Mattingly's but yesterday left us in a sour mood. The visit was stressful and frustrating; hopefully the next time we visit ALL of the waiters are attentive to their guests and things go a...
Read moreThe past few times I’ve came have been nightmares in the past two months and I use to come here a lot. Last month I came and ordered over $100 worth of food. I use their “toast” Apple self pay option and I tipped. The manager comes Over and say they never received the payment. The server was even exposing like “no she for sure paid I watched her and seen it go through”. I pulled up both my statements showing that I paid and the manager literally was like well we don’t have it do you have to pay again and if it double charge you call back for a refund…like girl who you talking to?? So she brought up the owners I’m like well call the owners and tell them to get up here. You don’t tell me I have to pay what if I don’t have an extra $100 to spare and pay for my meal AGAIN?? She was just rude and nonchalant about the situation l. Eventually as we are sitting there the money refunded from their app and so I had gave them the money but the experience with the manager was horrible. The server was amazing I tipped her extra the second go round.
Fast forward to today, Dec 6, 2023. I told my Fiance let’s try mattinglys because again I come a lot and Missed it. We and our two kids order our food and and I order the combo plate with nacho cheese on my loaded fries instead of the American cheese. When our food came out my fries were plain. I send them back. It comes back with lots of cheese little bacon but that’s fine no complaints. As I dig in I realize my fries aren’t done. Like rubbery on the inside. I try to push through. As I get to my Cajun chicken wings I take a bite and instantly spit it out in a napkin. They taste freezer burnt. So I asked the server like hey do these come Frozen and you guys just drop them in grease he flatout tells me no and unfortunately there are no substitutes. But I’m like no these have to be pre cooked and frozen so I have my fiancé taste and he(who is very non confrontational and will eat pretty much eat anything) confirmed it was gross. I call over another server and explain to her and she is like she will get the manager. The manager “SARAH” comes over and ask what’s wrong and I let her know. She grabs the plate and walks over saying she will just take it off my bill. She never asked me if I would like to replace it with anything else, or want it remade. NOTHING. Mind you my entire family are eating their dinner and I’m just sitting here looking crazy. My fiancé offered me some of his food but at this point I just was ready to leave. I have never been at a place where the customer service is not important. It was really ridiculous and I would hate for any thing like this to happen to anyone else. I was ready and willing to spend money on good food so the fact that she didn’t bother to ask me or see if I needed anything else was bewildering. I went into Mattingly’s on New Year’s Eve and ordered 2 pizzas and 10 hot wings. While it was pretty busy which I understand working in customer service myself I noticed pizzas sitting and other customers growing agitated. It had been 30 minutes and I noticed two pizzas sitting but I knew that was not my order. Surely they wouldn’t let my food sit for 20 minutes and not notify me or give it to me while I waited on the wings. One man went up and grabbed his own food and a worker told him the servers were supposed to do that.
I finally was able to get a server’s attention after being ignored. The worker a white male with dark hair brushed me off and told me yes those were my pizzas and advised to me there was no issue because that is the way they do it. Pizzas come out fast and wings take longer. I told him my pizza had been sitting for 20 minutes and after touching the bottom of the box it was warm at best. He walked away and told me that’s how it goes. I then asked a young white lady who had had dark hair and glasses she then told me that it was the kitchens fault. I asked for a manager and the same young male with dark hair told me once again this time more irritated and snarky that it’s just the way it goes and to wait for my wings and laughed and goes happy new year.
I searched for the manager for about 10 minutes. Finally the wings appeared by then my pizza was cold. The worst part this young man kept harassing me laughing at me and being disrespectful while I spoke with the manager Callie. She had to tell him to stop but he didn’t. He sat behind us and kept walking behind in an overly aggressive manner commenting and laughing. She offered to remake our pizzas by that point I did not trust it. I left upset with a cold pizza and hot wings.
Do not eat at this location. From the food and the horrible atrocious customer service I can find better pizza and customer service at Pizza Hut. If you look on Facebook and Yelp you will see very similar reviews. Which shows a consistent negligence. Clearly management does not care. So please save your money.
