Kaslik Mediterranean Cuisine — Restaurant in Hazelwood

The outside of the restaurant looked somewhat shifty. The only wait staff in evidence seemed completely uninterested in our dining at his restaurant. The restaurant itself was almost empty except for one one other couple, despite a spacious dining area. We walked up to the counter and asked for a table for two to dine. The host pointed at the dining room and told us to select a table. The tables were not very clean.

Our host then brought out a stack of two plastic plates with napkins and silverware. He also brought our menus and two glasses of water. The only drinks available for purchase seemed to be botted drinks in a case by the cash register; none were listed in the menu or mentioned by the waiter other than the water he brought out. My wife ordered the beef shawarma and a 6 piece falafel appetizer.

I ordered the lamb shish kebab that came with two skewers of meat and basmati rice. While the glasses of water were served in nice pint glasses, all of the food was served on plastic plates that gave the meal a somewhat "cheap" aura.

The food itself came quickly and was delicious. My wife especially recommends the falafel. Service was almost wordless. The proprietor never came back to our table after bringing our food out. I just had the nastiest experience at this restaurant. I looked at their menu on uber eats but called in to place my order and as I was explaining the meal that I wanted, the person had no clue what I was talking about, giving me nasty attitude and he doesn’t know the menu. Online, it clearly says “FOR 2 PEOPLE”, after finally understanding my request, he proceeds to say “JUST SAY THE BREAKFAST FOR 2, ITS THE BREAKFAST FOR 2” . I know how to read, the list of options mentions “kababs”. One again, with his sassy attitude “NO KEBABS IT DOESNT COME WITH KEBABS” (attached is a photo that I know how to read). He then says it comes with something called Kabis. So I assumed it came with 2 different kinds of vegetable mixes. Nope, there was certainly an item missing and I paid $40 for a meal for ONE. Yes it comes with lots of options but the portions are minimal and it’s missing something. I eat here periodically since it started the only Mediterranean restaurant nearby. The first 2 times I went the food was good and seasoned well. All the other times I have went the food is okay it doesn’t have much taste. Customer service is normally good that’s why I continue to go. Today I called to place an order the same thing I always get. Mixed grill (extra shrimp) with tahini salad on the side like it normally comes. The lady who was taking my order said the Tahini salad doesnt come with the plate anymore that was fine I ordered it anyway. My total comes up to $39.59. This is normally $26 max taxes included. The lady had an accent so I asked her to repeat the total twice when I understood her I asked did the prices go up or something she’s like yeah everything went up. I still couldn’t understand how it went up over $10 for one plate & a salad. The lady was very rude when I asked her to break down the new prices.
