The food industry is the quintessential example of a service industry. So much of the experience of a delightful meal is how good the service was.
A chef will spend countless hours and years perfecting the cooking temperature for a beef patty... not undercooked, not overcooked, not cold, not too hot... not to dry, not so fatty that it melts the bun.
A chef puts his or her heart and soul into that creation that leaves the kitchen... but... if the receptionist didn't greet you with genuine warmth, the waiter didn't present the menu options as though he himself was about to eat the meal, and if the ambience was not soothing and relaxing, then it would not matter if Massimo Bottura from Osteria Francescana himself had prepared that burger in his mother's kitchen, the burger would turn out to be unremarkable.
I walked into this place with the attitude of the grumpy cat... and sporting the same face. I had just lost my wallet, in it hundreds of dollars in cash, all my credit cards, and the wallet itself that is my favorite.
A million things going through my mind, kids, school, bills, taxes, work. The things that distract us from the beautiful things in life, like the woman accompanying me to this meal.
Regardless of my nasty an underserved attitude towards the world, everyone was pleasant to me. The waiter was so pleasant indeed that I instantly got an appetite where my appetite had disappeared just seconds before.
I was so mad that I wanted to be nasty... but being mean to this particular waiter would have been as hard as kicking a puppy. Why would I continue hurting the feelings of man just doing his job and doing such a great job at that.
So I decided to put on my big boy pants for once, stop acting like a child, and respond kindness with politeness.
So here he is, he talks about the menu options with such a genuine delight that I want to eat it all. Instantly I felt as though whatever I ordered would be guaranteed to be right.
We informed the waiter that we had limited time due to some pressing obligations, and he assured us our food would be served shortly.
Ladies and gentlemen... Never, in my entire life, not even when I used to produce concerts and time was of a critical essence and we had our own kitchen and chef was I served so quickly.
This waiter superstar took it as a personal task to make sure we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal by getting our food served on our table in what must be a Guinness World of Record.
When talking about a restaurant, with such a magnificent service my review would end there. That is enough, they could have brought me a cold burger and I would still be content.
But here is where the experience goes into Osteria Francescana levels. This is where the Michelin Stars are earned and oh do I wish I was one such grantors of stars.
This was not your typical greasy burger. And not that there is anything wrong with that, I can go for a Plano Country Burger any day... but this was something else.
A delicious soft and fresh brioche bread that would make any French baker proud. A beef that was tender, and flavorful and had the perfect color and temperature. Onions that didn't even smelled like onions. Everything was truly fantastic.
I left that place sincerely happy and thus remorseful of my original behavior.
How a meal can alter your whole outlook is a powerful thing.
You owe it to yourself to come here and experience what great service and great food should be always everywhere.
I cant wait to try the next dish. This is a place where I can genuinely say I will try every single item on the menu with the near certain conviction that everything will be as fantastic as the best burger I have ever...
Read moreMy family and I decided to visit this awesome new restaurant on a Saturday morning. We knew it would be busy, but we were willing to wait because of all the good things people had to say about it. There was only about a 15-20 minute wait so we had a chance to check out the farmer’s market in the area. We were called and seated promptly. The wait staff was very friendly and got our drink orders out quickly. We ordered a basket of biscuits for the table and they came out in no time. However, once we cut into them, we realized that they were undercooked and still doughy in the middle. It took a few minutes to flag down our waitress, but she was accommodating and apologetic for the mistake. We got a fresh batch of biscuits and they were perfectly cooked. The cinnamon butter they have is AMAZING. Comparable to Texas Roadhouse butter which, as we all know, is the bomb. My mom and I ordered the biscuits and gravy plate with eggs and tots because we loved the biscuits so much. However, we got our plates of eggs and tots before the biscuits came. Our waitress reassured us that the biscuits would be right out, but we finished the rest of our meal before we had word of them. Jenna (who I assume is the manager) came to our table and sincerely apologized for the delay and explained that they were having to make a whole new set of biscuits and that she would have our meals comped because of the inconvenience. The biscuits ended up being wonderful and the eggs were light and fluffy. The only complain I had food wise was that the tots were a little lackluster. They are reminiscent of Sonic tater tots. They could use some seasoning to help jazz them up slightly, but they had a good crunch to them nonetheless. I am overall pleased with our visit and look forward to coming back in a few weeks to see if it has improved at all. I know they are new and they are doing great customer service and food wise. Thank you Jenna and the rest of the wait staff for making sure my family and I were taken care of even in the midst of a chaotic...
Read moreI don't write reviews without first going directly to the restaurant to address. But it's been 48 hrs and no reply or acknowledgement to my email. We hadn't been in a while but loved this place and recommend to everyone we can. We love small business. We came in Sunday 12/17/23 for breakfast Ck 42. We were greeted and seated quickly. First one of the menus we were given was sticky and dripping honey or something, we got that exchanged. Then we noticed mimosas on the menu! New from previous visits, We attempted to order but were advised they couldn't til 10A (no issue there thats TX State law, restaurant cannot control). Third trying to order food, we asked to sub hashbrowns for one of the meats and server went to ask, and came back and told us no. Pity we would have been glad to pay a small upcharge as it wasn't part of a listed dish. Hope it was just a misunderstanding. Finally, I ordered the ME Egg sandwich add bacon. Server repeated back as a burger, which I politely advised it was the egg sandwich add bacon for extra charge. Which she confirmed. Then when the food came I received a sandwich that wasn't what I ordered. Server acknowledged responsibility and put in my order. But it by the time it got out, most of our party was done eating and sandwich appeared to be missing spicy mayo that was advertised. And upon getting home and reviewing the bill it seems we were still charged for the upcharge on adding the bacon. To be clear I wouldn't expect the full check to be comped. They've got to run a business, and 3/4 of us got exactly what was ordered. But some small gesture of goodwill would have definitely been appreciated. Maybe it was just an off day, but, definitely left a bit to be desired...
