We heard about a new Mexican restaurant in Flowery Branch, Georgia and tried it out last night. It was Excellent!
We were there a little early on a Saturday for dinner (5:30) because we had another event to attend. No problem finding a seat, but parking might be a big problem when this place is busy.
This place isn't dark and garish like some Mexican restaurants tend to be. It's light and airy and the atmosphere is relaxed, but it does feel a little fast foodish even though this is definitely nothing like fast food.
Our server was Michelle and she was very helpful in discussing their menu options. When I asked what was good she immediately pointed our the things that were the same in every Mexican restaurant, and the things that were truly Mexican.
I worked in Monterrey Mexico for several months many years ago and the one dish I remembered most fondly was the tortilla soup. It was incredible. For years I tried to find it in this country but nothing in any of our Mexican restaurants came close. That's because our Mexican restaurants do not serve Mexican food. Don't believe me - just ask a Mexican.
This place has it and they call it "Supa De La Casa", which of course is the soup of the house. I asked Michelle about it (she is from Monterrey) and she confirmed that it was indeed what I remembered as tortilla soup. This is a MUST try when you visit, but be warned to get the small. This is the small bowl shown in the picture and it's a meal all by itself! You will be amazed.
We also had the Gorditas, Tacos, and Quesadillas which were also excellent and very generous portions. My small soup, one taco, and one gorditas was way more than I could eat.
They can't server beer yet and that was the only disappointment. They should have that very soon making this place a 5-star...
Read moreAt least they had free chips and salsa is about the nicest thing I could say. My food was just okay; the chicken was dry / crunchy. I heard the pork was better. Beyond that, this place is a complete Trainwreck. We sat for over 20+ minutes before we were brought drinks. I've seen happier people working in a morgue. Nobody smiled. The inefficienies are mind boggling. There is absolutely no clear process or position for any of the servers which seem to run around like chickens with their head cut off every direction but towards the customers. They have no dedicated employee to buss tables and servers get stuck bringing out dishes / refilling salsa on the spot for to go orders. I'd love to see a local business succeed and offer a quality product. It's hard to believe that anyone actually enjoys working here, or puts any effort into "fixing things" we talked to the manager who gave an " I am the manager I'm sorry" which was about as strong as a wet noodle. The service and culture is so bad. It's either people "at the top" like the kid manager who are so blind to issues or don't want to put any time into fix because it is so awful. This place will fail when every customer gets treated like dirt. The food bell rang 3 times before the server brought our food, sitting, getting cold. Zero teamwork here. If you need someone to come clean things up, instill some actual process, and have employees follow a helping + positive culture I'm happy to assist. Next time, won't be a next time due to how poorly the establishment is run. I'll head over to Bunches for some sweet as tea smiles, immediate service, and food served hot as soon as it's made. My food was also wrong. Running a business is a professional endeavor and la casa del taco is clearly still in...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at la casa del taco, a gem of a Mexican restaurant that left my taste buds dancing in delight. From the moment I walked in, the vibrant decor and warm ambiance set the stage for an authentic culinary experience.
The menu boasts a diverse selection of Mexican delights, and each dish I tried was a symphony of flavors. The guacamole was a fresh and zesty starter, perfectly complemented by the house-made tortilla chips. For the main course, I indulged in their enchiladas, which were generously filled and smothered in a flavorful sauce that left me craving more.
What truly sets la casa del taco apart is their commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients. The dishes are a testament to the chef's skill and passion for Mexican cuisine. The service was prompt and friendly, with staff members happy to provide recommendations and ensure a delightful dining experience.
To top it off, the molcajete was expertly crafted and the most delicious for me and my family. The dessert menu is not to be overlooked; the churros were the perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic feast.
In conclusion, la casa del taco is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and mouthwatering Mexican dining experience. The combination of flavorful dishes, welcoming ambiance, and attentive service make it a standout choice. I'll definitely be returning to savor more of their...
