Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Foley

It's been several years since I last tried Freddy's, and I remember being thoroughly unimpressed with the one up in Birmingham. So when Foley got a branch of this Midwest-based chain, I was in no hurry to give it a shot. After all, we already have Culver's and they do good burgers and great custard. So, how does Freddy's compare to their closest competition?

I tried the jalapeño pepper jack double with cheese curds and to my surprise it was really good. The thin smashed patties were nicely charred along the edges, and the jalapeño slices packed a little heat. It contrasted nicely with the creamy fry sauce they put on the burger. The cheese curds were far and away superior to the over breaded ones at Culver's.

For dessert I got what I always get at Culver's, an Oreo concrete with marshmallow cream. This was a huge disappointment. The consistency was watery and thin, more like a bad shake than a thick concrete. There was basically no vanilla flavor to the custard. I did steal a bite of plain custard from my dining partner's sundae and it was better but still a far cry from the competition.

Service was good, especially by fast food standards, but again second to Culver's. The sweet tea was extremely mediocre. The bucket of ketchup packets was completely covered in slimy, sticky goo, which was gross.

Overall, I'd rate the burgers as better than many other fast food competitors, but not in my top tier with more expensive sit down restaurants like Fish River Grill or Cosmo's. The custard was pretty much forgettable, maybe one notch above Rita's and far...

I love Freddy’s , although there was a problem today with our order , which should have easily been fixed , and eventually was thanks to the Manager . , there is another manger there though her name is Christy , she is a terrible horrible person , who wants to argue and refuse to do the right & proper thing for good customer service . She was very demeaning to us , as if we didn’t know what we were talking about saying we had & were charged for too much food , refused to serve us fresh food after being so nasty for so long that our food got cold that we had to ask for a refund . Christys service was the worst . Now the raving super star TEMPLE saved the day . Not only did she help after the fact (so that we respect our hard earned money with Freddy’s , she was courteous, listened to us and made sure it came out perfect & hot ! Even treated me to a custard to save loosing the joy of my birthday meal ! Thank You so...

Do not order through any delivery service offered from this store .. we ordered once, and they forgot half the order. No big deal , people make mistakes right? We just ordered again tonight which was a simple order, two ice creams and a cheese curd, the cheese curd was only included to meet the minimum threshold of the order… the only thing to be delivered was the cheese curd … the damn RECEIPT WAS STAPLED ON THE BAG, which included the details of the whole order which is a normal. How did the delivery drive not notice on their delivery app, or LOOK at the receipt to ensure everything’s included … the store should’ve also had SOME sort of communication with the driver , which obviously isn’t the case here or in the previous order .
