Not worth the hype. This is one of the most hyped local establishments, now with multiple locations around. To start with, service is atrociously slow. Google Maps tracking says we spent TWO HOURS here from our arrival to departure, and we didn't even order alcohol! It was a 45-minute wait to get seated (despite initially saying 20 min wait). Once inside, every waitress moved and walked like they were on disability. Once we ordered it took quite a while to get food (I understand it's not fast food, but for table service it's still very slow). The shrimp had a chlorine taste to them, and the crinkle fries were incredibly bland with absolutely no seasoning (they literally tasted like Great Value crinkle fries). Both the Swamp Burger and Bacon n Blue Burger were delicious, and you could tell it was a hand pressed patty, but the buns noticeably came out of a package. And my soda...the entire glass was ice, up to the very top rim. There must have been maybe several ounces of soda actually in the huge cup; one sip and it was empty. The complimentary 2-ounce Swamp Soup tasted good, but giving them out in the first place was odd (I guess it's their version of free dinner rolls). Overall there seems like potential here, it's just a culmination of little things keeping it from being good, nevermind...

It was actually a refreshing change (lately) to get an experienced and knowledgeable waitress who took care of our large party's every need. The 'swamp soup' was quite tasty, as was the gumbo. Yes, I've had better (gumbo) in New Orleans but I'm not complaining. The "Wisconsin style" cheese curds appetizer was also good. Yes, I've had better in Minnesota but again, I'm not complaining.
I believe everyone enjoyed their food and for a seafood based restaurant, it was literally half the price as one we visited the next day closer to the beach. The mixed drinks were awesome! Recommend the Bushwhacker, which is their version of a mudslide. My Yuengling came in a jar glass with a handle. For dessert, we got the stuffed beignet that had peach and apple (cobbler) inside, covered in powdered sugar ofcourse. I regret not taking a picture but it was so good, we gobbled them up fast!😄
Definitely would recommend, if you want something slightly unique and different from the average...

My family and I were visiting home and when we asked around where we should go- this was the spot that kept coming up. I can see why.
The food was flavorful, thoughtfully portioned, and incredibly executed. Textures and flavors were SPOT ON. Every crispy element was hot and soft on the inside- and seismic crisp on the outside. I ordered the Cajun Crawfish Pistol plate and the etoufee(?) filled bread bite was crispy. Buttery. FLAKEY on the outside- hot, salty, savory on the inside.
The service was exellent. Our server took time to talk us through the menus and specials, chat with the children, and kept us in good communication during our visit. There wasn't a wait for anything beyond fresh hot food. I cannot tell you how satisfying it was to have every element of my plate served HOT.
The restaurant is open floor plan and with no division. It makes for a very community lunch feeling, it buzzes with the chatter of what feels like a single conversation. It's hard not to talk about the cup of swamp soup!
I couldn't reccomend this spot enough. Thank you for your service FRG!
