Usually I’m pretty lenient with new restaurants but the past few times I’ve been here I’ve just been disappointed each time. I usually come for lunch, and so does everyone else, by the time I get there it’s pretty busy. and the past few times I’ve gone there’s only been ONE server, ONE server doing host, bartending, serving AND running food! Disgusting behavior from the establishment. Not only do I have to wait longer to get any order taken, it takes even longer for her to run my food. It’s frustrating seeing them run around like a chicken with no head. For the price everything is set at and the fancy ambience, I would expect to see something more professional from management and owners. This has happened every time I’ve come in, very understaffed, even though it’s been months since they’ve opened. I actually feel bad for the workers here.
Now to the next thing, the managers or the owners or whatever. There has been an instance where I’ve heard dog barking coming from the kitchen. I know I’m not the only one who’s heard it considering another review on this place, but I have also seen their dogs being walked towards the back of the restaurant. I don’t know if they truly are in the kitchen, but the fact that I’m not the only one who’s heard dog barks back there is enough to raise suspicion.
My last complaint of this place is restaurant itself. Food is overpriced it makes me laugh. The shrimp tempura? I get the same ones from Costco for wayyyy cheaper. The gyoza as well. The jalapeño bombs are a joke, it’s like they took one Jalapano and cut it in 6 pieces and served it on a 16$ platter. I came in the morning one time and got the chicken teriyaki box, I expected something fresh for 20-something $, but what I got was rubbery, fatty over cooked chicken. I think they reheated chicken from the night before or something, I complained to the server and got another box, but it tasted the same. What a joke of place, first thing in the morning and I can’t even get fresh food? I wouldn’t recommend the sesame chicken either it’s been pounded so thin I could use it as printer paper. Their “ramen”, if you could call it that, is about 20$ and it tastes like instant noodles, I could also get from Costco for a quarter of the price. Sushi was actually pretty good, but they’re one of those restaurants that has the “50%” sushi deal, to make it seem like you’re getting a deal out of it. If you look at other sushi places, their prices aren’t anything to be grateful for, in fact it’s even more expensive than other places in Folsom. I guess I’m paying extra for bad service and dog hair in my food.
Btw came with my wife who is gluten intolerant and they basically had nothing for her. They have gluten free soy sauce but little to no gluten options on the menu? Don’t make me laugh, why even bother. Even the other restaurants in the area have gluten free options.
TLDR: If you’re looking for a place with good food and good service go to the other restaurants in the area. Save yourself the trouble AND the money and go to Mikuni for sushi...
Read moreI recently visited Bento Box for a quick lunch with a friend, my second time at the restaurant. Initially, I wasn't overly impressed during my first visit, but I thought the bento boxes offered a decent, quick, and somewhat healthy option. This time, we decided to try the sushi, opting for the sashimi plate and extra sushi rolls with our bento boxes.
Upon receiving our sushi, we immediately noticed the color looked a bit off, which raised some red flags. Despite this, we decided to give it a try. I started with the salmon, which tasted okay but definitely hinted at being old. The next piece, however, was a different story. It was overwhelmingly fishy, discolored, and downright inedible. I returned it, and the staff was polite and removed it from our bill. I paid $75 for a meal that I absolutely regret ever eating.
Unfortunately, shortly after our meal, both my friend and I began to feel unwell. It was the only thing we had eaten that day, and by the evening, we were both experiencing severe stomach issues. For the past 15 hours, I've dealt with extreme nausea and diarrhea, making for a very uncomfortable experience.
The quality of fish at Bento Box is questionable, and I was informed that they had just received a fish order that day. Given this experience, I wouldn't recommend their sushi—I'm too worried about the risk of...
Read moreI’ve enjoyed dining at Bento Box with my family, but our recent visit left us extremely disappointed.
We ordered a bento box that included beef, chicken teriyaki, as well as honey chicken. When I took my first bite of the honey chicken, I was immediately overwhelmed by a foul taste that made me gag. It was so bad that I had to spit it out, wishing I could erase the taste from my mouth.
I informed the waiter about the issue and requested a new order with a different protein. While we were waiting, the manager approached our table, don’t have her name, Instead of expressing concern, she kept rolled her head and seemed dismissive as I explained our situation. Not once did she or anyone apologize for the experience we had just gone through, which added to our frustration.
We eventually received a new plate, but unfortunately, I left the restaurant with an upset stomach. This experience was not what we expected from a place we’ve frequented before.
I hope the manager and team take customer feedback seriously and improves both the quality of their food and their approach to...
