Jimboy's has been around forever. It was always a much better alternative to Mexican "fast food." The tacos are still excellent. The taco "burger" is outstanding! The rest of the menu is quite good and the selection of fresh salsas, heat for every taste, is most welcome!
Since the owner died the prices have gone though the roof for this type of establishment. It feels like they're trying to turn it into a regular Mexican restaurant, experimenting with new, overly ambitious construction, inside and out at the location in Folsom, on East Bidwell Street.
This location has obviously lost many customers. People seated at the tables having dinner is rare and I haven't experienced having to wait in line to order for a very long time which in itself is not a bad thing but worrisome because I would rather see "my" Jimboy's bustling!
While they have added a few new items to the menu and they're all tasty, the shrimp quesadilla is quite good, with large, fresh tasting shrimp, at the same time they are subtly removing things like the warm, flour tortilla from the full dinners. I guess every penny counts. It's disappointing.
In the future I'll patronize the smaller, "old time" Jimboy's in other locations for the experience and food my husband, family, friends and I have enjoyed for over fifty (50!) years! The one on Arden Way in Sacramento has been and continues to be outstanding! Sometimes it's so packed you have to wait a few minutes for a table. ...
Read moreHORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. My Drive thru was a horrible experience. From the time I ordered till the time I got my food was 22 mins for a drive thru. I had a small order of 2 enchiladas...that's it. I ordered...... paid and was asked to wait in the parking lot while the food was brought out to me. I am not sure why I was asked to wait if it was not a large order and several cars before me and after me were not asked to wait. . After about 15 mins of waiting in front of the business I got down and went inside. My order was sitting on the counter so I asked the cashier if that was mine and she said no. So I waited even longer. Finally I asked for a refund and then the cashier said oh wait nevermind that is yours. My order sat on the counter for 7 minutes. The cashier did not offer to compensate me while I waited or even a cup of water. Soon as I got my order she did not apologize or even acknowledge the fact that it was her mistake. She continued to ring the next customer as if nothing had happened. Unfortunately I will not be going to this place again. And I would highly recommend that if you are ever in the area you try the restaurant next door call Adalberto's Mexican Cuisine. Adalbertos Food is a lot more authentic and customer service is...
Read moreMy wife has been after me to take her to Jimboy’s for quite a while. I would beg off, because I don’t eat beef. She suggested we go and find out if they have chicken. Instead I got on the internet and found this site. So we went and here is my review. First the ambiance. The exterior is unique and charming. The inside matches the outside, and would fit right in in Disney land. We found it charming. Who ever did the faux stone is an artist. Very creative and tasteful. We each ordered two tacos. My wife loved hers (beef & Chicken). Unfortunately the two chicken were not to my taste. Since she loved hers and I did not, I chalked it up to one of the many things that married couples do not agree on. But the way that she went on and on, about how good they were, I knew that we would come again. So next time I am going to try the Super Burrito. All in all this is one of our top 4 inexpensive lunch places (assuming I like the Burrito). Did I mention I really...
