Today my wife and I went around 4:26 pm to order dinner. There were no other customers except for us. When we began ordering my wife asked for fresh Black Beans because tray was almost empty with dried Black Beans. The girl behind the counter appeared to get an attitude but complied with the request. She placed the Beans and Rice on the tostada shell and when she added a small amount of Steak my wife asked if she could add a little more meat (since there is an extra charge for the Steak) she rolled her eyes and whispered something to her female co-worker (found out after she was the manager). From that point on she gave my wife attitude during the rest of the contract. The cherry on top was was when we went to pay the manager had just informed the cashier that there was no more Veteran discounts beginning today (I'm a Permanently Disabled Veteran) except Active Duty Uniformed Service Members. Prior to today during two consecutive visits they were out of both the Steak and Firegrilled Chicken which is our usual order at the Fontana Cafe Rio. Again we were greatly disappointed. Normally we were always receiving the Veteran discount with no problems. We have no plans of returning to this Cafe Rio. We'll go back to Cane's where they NEVER run out of Chicken and we always receive a Veteran Discount with a smile and great Service. Let's clarify something. It's just not about the Veterans Discount. My wife is very big on that, I appreciate it and if we get it that's fine and if we don't then that's cool too. But it was the overall experience today and the past disappointments that was the catalyst for our decision not to return. When we first started going there it was always a great experience. Staff was nice and had a great sense of humor. But now the attitudes are disappointing, sometimes the store is dirty and the portions are now small. I'm not unaware about the rising costs to do business. It's just a reflection of the sign of the times. But a few pieces of meat and small scoop of beans! Again, we were the only ones there when we got there and ordered. A couple of people showed up after. Hope that there...
Read moreSo far, the worst café río ive been too. I asked for a bowel, and she literally put half a spoon of rice it was not even touching around the bowel. She put half of rice. Rice, chicken, and cheese were not touching the around the bowel. So i asked her if it was how small you usually make the bowels? (I've gotten the bowels here and in a different location), and she said yes. She asked if i wanted lettuce, so she double portion that, so now the bowel looked like if it was pouring out of food, i even had to tell her not to put more. I can make my own saled at home. So i asked for corn they have the smallest spoon and only gave me half a spoon of it. Then i said, "Can i have extra she literally scopped like 4 more corns. So i said, "You know whot im not gonna take it like that." It's super small. I hate to complain. i know everyone is hurting financially these days. But im not gonna pay 15 bucks for lettuce. So i said no im not gonna take it." So i was walking away. And she was telling the other employees i didn't want it because it was small. And then showing all the lettuce popping out. Like if they bowel was so huge. It was all lettuce. Weres the chicken rice beans? She was like sarcastic about saying i said it was small. I've ordered these before i know how they normally serve it. Never complain about other times. So no thanks, cafe rio in...
Read moreI've been to a few Cafe Rio restaurants. I dropped in to have a couple of tacos. As I walked in there were no customers and I was a little confused because when I stop by Newport for instance, it's always busy and I usually wait in line for a while. The time was a little before 4 so I expected that the lunch rush was over and the employees took advantage of the downtime to clean. The reason I'm writing this is because I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the entire restaurant. I started to order my tacos I noticed how the food looked old, and I noticed spills and the food everywhere, I almost left but I thought maybe they were very busy and gave them the benefit of the doubt. When I got my food I started walking to a table and realized most of the tables were dirty. I started to become a little upset. I cleaned my table and went to get my drink and to my surprise all of the fresh flavored water except for Horchata containers were empty. I sat down and expected to see the associates clean around the food, tables or refill the drinks. Instead, they chatted right in front of the food and...
