I, white/hispanic, came in with my asian gf at 10 pm sharp (they close at 11), hoping to sit and eat. I come from a service industry background so I understood when they said they could not sit us do to them closing soon. We grabbed a menu and began looking for what we would order To -go. About 5-10 minutes later, a seemingly "Indian", (I do not mean to come off as racist here, but it was pretty clear they were of "similar" ethnic background to host, as well as many of the people who were already seated and enjoying their meals.) They were immediately allowed to be seated and given waters and place settings. (Now there is a chance they called their order in ahead, or are friends of the establishment or regulars, which we are not, it was our first time going) However, is certainly did NOT feel good and if looked at on a superficial level, came off as possibly racially motivated, which again just did not make us feel good or welcome, or as an equal paying customer, but we got over it. Then after ordering we choose to wait at the bar area in plain view of the entire restaurant and centrally located. After waiting about 20 minutes, the group that came in behind us, and ordered after us, was given their food and began to eat. This again, for similar reasons as above, was disheartening and began to bother us a bit more. We said nothing and continued to wait patiently for our food. another 10 minutes went by, and I barely noticed a server had placed a bag of food in their "to go" section on the opposite side of the bar, not saying anything to us. After another 10 minutes of waiting, (40 minutes total), a younger server came, dropped 2 wrapped items, not in a bag though, and placed it about 4 feet away from us on the inside part of the bar saying nothing. After analyzing it, we were sure it was some of our food we ordered, but clearly not all of it. We continued to wait. After 5 minutes, I noticed the male host and 2 female servers not really doing much of anything and I asked how much longer it would be. the host said he would go to the back to check the order. He quickly came out, grabbed the two items in front of us and then grabbed the bag at the far end of the bar and the two items in front of us and said sorry for the wait. ..... I waited 45 minutes for marginal Indian food and stared at the food getting cold for 10-20 of those minutes. No communication between Front of house staff, no communication between host/servers and customers. And just a lack of awareness, care, and dedication to good service by that group on Friday night 4/12. Super sad to experience as our first times there and coming from a restaurant background of over 15 years, THIS, is why restaurants FAIL so often. It is the little things. Unless your food is off the charts, which sadly it was not, you better make the customer experience more than satisfactory. I hope the management gets some more training for their staff and that they install a better system for to go orders, and lastly I pray theyre not that openly racist. We need less of that in this world, not more. Its sickening. Lastly, dont get the naan bread, its not good, they raved about it when we arrived. Its not fluffy at all; instead it was flat and hard like a matzah cracker. Trader Joes makes a good frozen naan bread thats 100x better. Maybe killian should just buy that....? Or just rethink their...
Read moreThe music is fantastic, the decorations are stunning! The flavors truly are something to behold. Their butter chicken is honestly pretty darn good. The drink selection is non-existent but you are most likely there for the food so that's fiiiiiine. The water wasn't iced and warm which iiiiis coooool. I will say the amount of chicken in our chicken dishes were fairly depressing. I mean you can ball your fist and the space left in them was more than the chicken you get in the meal.
The dine in experience was strange. We had a whole talk about spice/what I thought meant hot. Server used terms like mild, medium, spicy. The person I was with got spicy, I got medium... Turns out that didn't relate to heat in any capacity. We even order the spicy Nann and just didn't get that. Got asked how the food was and we let them know we wish it was actually hot. That "medium to spicy" range we talked all about for 2 minutes. Got served our take home boxes faster than we actually got the food. Then when we ordered some spicy Nann to take home, they pointed to what we already had and let us know that was just regular garlic... Yyyyyyyyeah! I know! The theme of the night was it wasn't spicy enough! "You wanna take home the crushed up chilis we brought you?" Girl that's BEEN gone in the dishes. Let the consumer make "the mistake " if they order something. I don't understand, especially after the feedback, questioning if maybe we "misspoke" and meant the regular.
Lesson of the night I suppose is to spell out or maybe point to the menu? I would hate to come off ignorant or rude but I can't fathom what mild, medium, or spicy meant in any capacity if we weren't talking about heat. The meal would have honestly been wonderful with that kick added! My party was both starving, shaking for food, then got it and was shocked how actually 0 amount of spice went into the...
Read more*1st visit last year (note EDIT below from more recently): We love Indian food, and we're thrilled that this gorgeous spot is just down the street! Hands down, the best Indian food in the Inland area (only the Red Fort in St George, Utah competes, but that's over 5 hours away, so...) The butter chicken was decadent, and if you like chicken biryani with an explosion of flavor and spice, you won't be disappointed (no one will accuse this place of being "Americanized.") With 2 entrees + appetizer, we had enough for lunch AND dinner, so we felt the price was fair. We can't wait to go back and try more dishes! EDIT 3-24-25 Tonight was REALLY weird. We hadn't been in a while, and ordered to go. When we walked in, the only person there was a woman slowly sweeping. She asked if we were dining in, and we said we had an order to go. She said, "ok," and went on sweeping for several minutes. Our order, it turned out, was the one sitting there on the counter. No one came out to help, even though the guys in the back saw us standing there. She went into the back.and the entire place was empty. We could have taken our order and gone, but we weren't sure it was ours. She finally came back out talking on Bluetooth (I think?) And totally ignoring us. I walked up to her and asked, "Is THAT our order?" She said, "let me check" and swept a little more and then put some more chairs back before checking and finding out that it was ours. We would have been there forever if we hadn't asked! Also, no raita with the biryani I don't think...
