Corkys was recommended by an Uber as I am new to town and I needed to remember what the neighborhood I was born in after 30+ years in chicago. We were greeted very nicely as the hostess/cashier was very genuine and attentive. We were sat down in a table for 5 and everything was smooth so far. My mother ( over 60 ) felt she was being ignored after she (speaking broken english ) kept repeating coffee over and over seemed to be missing her drink. She mentioned it to us and we started noticing the cold shoulder. She would not even adress her or look her direction. She looked rushed. Our drinks took a while to get to the table but im guessing they ran out of cups, I noticed they had cups from what im guessing a dollar store would sell. Honesty and communication goes a long way with me and I would of appreciated it. I had the Corkys omelette, and it was good maybe a 6 out of 10 for flavor, it had gravy ontop, but honestly I thought it may have made the omellete more bland or maybe the omellete made the gravy bland, but something lacked seasoning. Coffee was ok but it was inconsistent for some reason. We would get a strong cup, then a weak watered down cup. I dont know whats going on there. The hot chocolate was suuuuuper sweet, but very good. Burritos were very good though, we had the chorizo and it tasted very fresh. I asked for hot sauce but was offered 3 different ones like cholula and tapatio but never saw either one. I didnt mind paying the $100+ bill for 5 people, since the food was better than average but woulve appreciate more attentiveness from the waitress. I wojld still...
Read moreOriginally had 3 stars for the reasons listed under "prices" but after finally getting home and eating my sandwhich, it was the saddest piece of s that ive ever had. Taking down to 1. Chicken breast was beyond dry, thinner than my wifes eyeliner and taste was left behind. They dont even toast the bread, which makes the bottom super soggy and disgusting. I miss having a cocos near by, bread always toasted, flavor, portion, and prices were on point. Corkys uses shredded lettuce so for sure has even less lettuce than a regular lettuce leaf. The sweet girl at the front was awesome and correctly placed my order (per receipt) for my 3 sides (onion straws, steak fries, and potato salad). Cooks couldnt even get that right and i got 2 steak friea and 1 onion straw, missed my potato salad. PRICES- it's Corkys lol paid over $60 for 3 sandwhiches. Yo can go to almost any other restaurant and save money for the same services. Foods nothing special. Go to BJs crazy to think that a burger or sandwhich is cheaper there, more delicious, and better atmosphere. Crack a barrel cheaper and food is just as good. Won't be back. Good old corporate greed at its fullest. It's a sandwhich for God's sake not even a signature entree. Still trying to figure out how 2 pieces of cold bread (1 soggy bun), 1 chicken breast (dry and thin), 2 tomatoes slices, some lettuce go for that much, can't even blame inflation...
Read moreWe recently discovered Corky's and we really enjoy its delicious comfort food! We went there because we were looking for a place open late at night and someone who works in the area gave Corky's rave reviews! That person steered us right. Corky's is open 24 hours. I tried something I had never had before, the pork belly hash. It was very flavorful! Their home fries are tasty, as are their biscuits and gravy. My wife really enjoyed their fried chicken and the mashed potatoes appear to be made from scratch. The portions are generous, which is almost too bad because their dessert options are amazing! If you order a cinnamon roll I suggest you share it because it is probably big enough for 3 people. The pies they serve are terrific. Their cookies looked wonderful so I ordered some "to go" the first time we went to Corky's. Boy, did they live up to their appearance! Since then I have always ordered at least one cookie to take home. We do not live in this area but I suspect that I will eat at Corky's any time I am in this...
