Beautiful small coffee shop! It's got a super relaxing atmosphere, friendly operators, and delicious coffee!
I am not a fluent Spanish speaker, so I was kind of nervous about going to a Mexican coffee shop, but it wasn't even a problem at all. Not only did I not feel bad about not being able to speak fluent Spanish or pronounce the drink names well, I felt welcomed when I did try it out with my stiff Spanish. 😆 Both the guy taking orders and the gentleman making the drinks were welcoming and humorous, joking with some customers before us and generally seemed happy to be there.
Even though it was a soft opening, the setup was smooth and the service so fluid that it took them mentioning it to me to even notice everything was not fully set up 🤣 I am pretty oblivious sometimes, but it really seems like a neat - although undecorated - coffee place. My initial thought was maybe they were new or minimalist haha but it turns out to be a soft open and they don't have everything fully furnished yet! But they have the most important things: great service and delicious coffee!!!
They also had stickers! I don't know how long those will be around, but we got some super cute stickers when we came in. 🎉
I love the flavors and personally tried both the Beautiful Darkness and the Orange Blossom. I had them both with oat milk and let me tell you it was delicious. 😋 The orange blossom even had an orange slice that added a burst of orange to our sips!
I used to buy Starbucks regularly and find myself practically chugging it, but the coffee at Mi Flor Mayor is so flavor-packed it practically forces you to slow down and sip it to enjoy each mouthful! Honestly, it's pretty dang good. I really think it's way better than Starbucks coffee. The prices are similar but the drinks are better. And I am not a huge fan of super sweet anything and it's perfectly sweetened for me. I think the coffee they use balances out the sweetness of the syrups really well and makes it super smooth and easy to sip.
There seems to be only one size of coffee but I even like that because I don't have to think about what size I'll get today or feel bamboozled by the "small" price difference tempting me to size up! 😂
I saw they also have a small baked goods section that I definitely plan to sample in the future as well
To conclude: visit Mi Flor Mayor for...
Read moreI'm happy to have given this new coffee shop a shot, it's great! Let me start the review off right with noting that this place has hands down some of the best coffee I have had.
I'll start with the drawbacks, but let me say none of them have anything to do with the coffee itself. First, the parking situation is a bit rough. Trying to parallel park off of Sierra isn't the most relaxing thing you can do, but there is parking in the rear so if you don't mind a little stroll you won't have a problem with this.
They are currently in a soft opening state, so the cosmetic and quality of life decorations and stuff aren't in their final state, and the seating area is really just for you to get your coffee and go at this stage. That being said, the interior is comfortable and doesn't look uncared for or in any way messy.
Prices- around starbucks price point, I paid 6-8 for each drink, and they aren't very large, about 16 oz.
Now that is out of the way I'll just tell you that none of the above is going to keep me from coming back, a rewards/loyalty/ special price of the day thing could go a long way to remedy the price, but the coffee itself is very good.
I got an orange blossom coffee of all things. I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I got was a full bodied coffee with a hint of citrus and a dried orange slice in the drink. I'm sure this is a common combo but for me it was novel. Not only that, it was great. The orange is not overpowering, and the drink itself isn't overly sweet, the coffee flavor actually comes through which is something I can't say for some coffee places I've been to.
The staff is super friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere isn't stuffy of overly professional/corporate, and I really hope that more people come check them out.
Also I got a free sticker, and that's always a...

Overall, I had a real good experience. The guy taking orders was very nice and personable. He helped create a very warm and welcoming environment.
Our drinks came out after about 5 minutes. There isn’t much room to form a line inside the store, so when it’s busy expect to line up on sierra. You’ll have to park on Sierra or in one of the nearby parking lots. There’s plenty of parking so I don’t think parking is too much of an issue.
Also since the store is pretty new, the interior is a little bland. There are some portraits and vines hung on the wall, but there is also a lot of empty space on the walls, but I imagine over time they’ll get filled up and the store will have a more lively atmosphere.
I got a hot mi flor mayor and my wife got a iced el churro.
Mi flor mayor was a great drink but the aroma from the dehydrated flowers was pretty strong and I personally wasn’t a fan of that. It didn’t ruin the drink for me but you should be aware of that in case you have a sensitive nose.
El churro was downright amazing. I like sweet drinks so it was perfect for me. If you’re not into sweet drinks, you may want to stay away because it’s pretty sweet. My wife got it iced so once some of the ice melted it helped tone down the sweetness. Overall a very good drink!
We also got a pumpkin cheesecake loaf. It was so good! All the pastries they had looked like they would...
