I came here out of curiosity for several things. I thought wow, finally thereās now a Hinar Cafe opened in my area. I visited Psalms Coffee about a week ago. I ordered a latte and it was ok, but I noticed that there was a difference in flavor. I looked at the familiar Hinar design and was pleased with. The ambience was nice, it felt like I was at the East Village location in downtown San Diego. The lady in the front was nice and helpful. Then came the shocker. I asked how come they chose that name instead of going with Hinar again. She said that they were not affiliated with Hinar Cafe. I was dumbfounded, especially how everything was literally copy pasted, the sign, the ambiance, the color, the ceramic cups, the tables, the chairs, I even saw on instagram theyāre doing an imitation of the Lotus Biscoff cake. They seemed a little bothered by it, but honestly I didnāt think of it anything. I spoke to some of my friends and they even commented on their IG about it and they always said that their comments were removed somehow.
All in all, I think credit should be due to Hinar Cafe and if someone calls their place something religious as Psalms, should know better that this is not what our Lord Jesus Christ has taught us, but at the end we all have to deal with our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice, small storefront coffeeshop. Take note, there's no signage on building, that can be seen from the street or parking lot. The entrance is shared with a gym, called Urban Iron, that has a large banner over door entrance.
The coffee has a good taste and quality. I ordered the Kindness. Well made and tasted well. Not sweet enough for my preferences and the foam was a little too thick, to the point it would not mix easily with the coffee, even after being stirred. Other than that the presentation was very good.
Customer service was good. Friendly and attentive.
There was only one menu available and it was at the register, flat on the counter. Only visible, once you got to the register and ready to order. A larger, more visible menu or menus would be a good idea. Seating is available inside and out. Yet, not many seats available. IDK if there's Wi-Fi. Saw no signage.
Overall, the coffee is good enough to return and warrant sampling another choice on the menu.
I recommend this coffee shop, especially if you want to support a small business and get away from the less favorable places like Starbucks and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo happy that we have some great quality matcha here in the I.E.! Seating is quite limited, but since I usually just grab and go, itās no bother for me. If youād like to stay and chat with a friend, you may be struggling to find a seat to sit, even on a weekday.
I love their Grace Latte, and Iām completely in denial that itās seasonal! Itās soooo good. Havenāt tried their coffee stuff but their matcha is really high quality and it has that earthy and smooth taste.
Psalms now has little desserts which I have yet to try but I find it personally a little overpriced for a dessert you can finish in 2 bites. Their little cheesecakes are around $5, which I felt was a bit too much. š But they look good, so maybe one day l will...
