Boo was told about this place by a coworker. We got to Forest City a lot more than Spartanburg. We love the small-town feel and Chesnee is not hitting on much. We have a very select number of restaurants. I am a true burger and homemade fries kinda girl. This is my favorite meal and I love new places. So we found it on a side street in downtown Forest City. Never seen the place who knew. We got parking in the front of the Slims. Went in and got seated immediately. They have a top floor. Then a set of stairs that go down and a bottom floor. The waitress was very nice. I loved the vibe of the place it just felt homey. They said the bar they did serve beer. It was more family-oriented than individuals. The food was delicious. I got a cheeseburger with Chili. mayo lettuce. Fries with homemade honey mustard 😋. Boo got a cheeseburger all the way with onion rings. B got the burger with the top and bottom being grilled cheese sandwiches. He loves the show where the man eats the big meals. I think it's like man against food or something. He thought he could eat it all plus onion rings. Boy was he wrong he had to bring half the burger home. The meat was fresh the fries were crispy. I don't eat onions. They both said the onion rings were delicious. The only thing I wished for is I like the larger fries and not the shoestring fries. Most of the time you get a lot of end pieces. I understand why a restaurant would do this. They got further and they cook faster. I am simply giving my honest opinion as always. We...
Read moreFirst visit to Slim's. My parents had been twice and spoke highly of it. So after church my family, I and my parents went. First table we sat at in the lower section has tin hanging over the table but there is an A/C unit above you and it was causing condensation on the tin and dripping down on the table so we moved tables. The burgers were nothing special they were all overcooked. My wife and mothers was almost double in thickness compared to mine. They forgot the lettace, tomato and onions on my mom's burger. The buns fell apart on all of our burgers. Need a more hearty bun or possibly toast then to give them some structure and strength. Got my daughter a hotdog she wouldn't eat though she loves hotdogs so we all tried it. It was very very salty. And tasted like a very cheap hotdog I was expecting a good quality beef hotdog with such a limited menu and hand pattied burgers. My mother said this was nothing like the other times they'd been but we were all disappointed. Service was good waitress checked on us regularly and did apologize for the hotdog and I believe even spoke to the cook about it. The fries were the highlight, awesome hand cut fries with your choice of salt and pepper or seasoning salt. Every restaurant has it's off days which this seems to have been just doesn't make you...
Read moreA delightful stop on our way to the arcade; I've wanted to try Slim's food out for years, but we don't frequently stop in Forest City on our adventures, so it's sadly taken much longer to get by there. I'm so glad we got to check it off of the list.
The atmosphere is cozy, and the place smells amazing. Even as a vegetarian, I can appreciate the smell of a good burger on the grill. We sat right down on a busy Friday evening. The waitress greeted us very politely and prompt. Our daughter ordered a cheeseburger, hubs ordered a hot dog & I ordered a grilled pimento cheese sandwich. We also each ordered fries (I did 1/2 & 1/2 with onion rings and fries).
Everything was delicious. We sadly didn't get any photos. We all dived in as soon as the food arrived, but I'm telling y'all, go give this excellent Bar & Grill a try. It was a treat for us, and we will be sure to visit again in the...
