Overall it was really good. We (5 adults) got there just before 9pm and didn't realize they closed at 9 but not once were we told or made to feel like we were an inconvenience. In fact, we didn't even find out until after our bill came. The place doesn't look like much. It's kind of drab and dark. I didn't expect much to be honest. I asked if they had gluten free options, and to my surprise they did. In fact, they had more variety of GF options, than any other place I've visited. I was overwhelmed with so many choices. Pizza, pastas, salads. Even with their pasta they had pasta varieties to chose from. I was impressed. I ordered the Mediterranean Gluten free Pizza. The crust was cauliflower crust, the entire thing was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the chef Salad to share with my husband. It was so good. I don't like ranch but some reviews said it was good so I tried it and it was fantastic. The salad was huge. But if you order it as your appetizer, ask them to bring it out 1st. Otherwise it will arrive with your pizza. The rest of my family ordered the calzones. So those were not calzones. They were Stromboli. Delicious. But not a calzone. They were also served with fries. The staff was friendly and wanting to do a good job. The only real problem that we had was the at the end. When our bill came my pizza though I ordered from the specialty menu which said small 10" $15.50 add $2.50 for GF on our bill it was itemized. Which wouldn't be a problem, except it added up to .50 more than what the total should be for the pizza. I brought it to the servers attention, they said they always itemize it on the bill. Then I said that's fine, but it shouldn't add up to more than the price on the menu. They didn't call for a manager, or take off the extra .50 cents from our bill. Which really bothers me. Imagine if they do this 10 times a day 360 days a year. That's $1825 multiply that by 10 years. And that's just 1 customer. Yeah. .50 cents makes a big difference to the bottom line. Like I said Overall it was great. This was the only issue. I certainly recommend it just double...
Read moreI’ve eaten at Sal’s a handful of times, as their thin crust pizza is a favorite of mine--not to mention, their ranch dressing is honestly to die for. However, during my last visit, there were a peculiar number of mistakes made on their part. Some of these problems are really not a big deal. However, the succession of them was surprising and therefore bears mentioning. Also note, the restaurant was not overly busy during our meal.
We are local, so we normally get our pizza delivered from Salamone's. The pizza is solid. Thin crust, regular crust, thick crust and stuffed pizzas are all available. We usually get the regular crust, and have ordered the others as well, generally for something a little different. The Margherita pizza is a favorite for my kids, but too much garlic for this old stomach. Let me break down our pizza experience:
Ordering: They do get very busy, and sometimes it's hard to phone in an order. The online ordering works great for delivery and that's what I recommend.
Size of pizza: The pizzas are not undersized. You order an XL, you get an XL. No bad experience in getting undersized pizzas from Salamone's!
Toppings: Both the amount and the quality of the toppings are really good! No cheap ingredients, no funky tastes. In a world of pizza companies trying to cut costs, it's nice to have a place that doesn't sacrifice quality.
Cheese: Good mozzarella cheese, definitely not cheap. Very tasty and not stingy at all. You order extra cheese and by golly, you get a good amount of extra cheese.
Sauce: The house red sauce is amazing. It's a great sauce and it's seasoned well. Very consistent in amount and flavor. Good stuff!
Crust: Our favorite is the regular thickness crust. Whichever you choose, it's a good tasting crust. Obviously, the thick crust and the stuffed pizzas will be soft, but the thing crust and the regular crust have a good crispness to them. Flavor is great, too. Nothing worse than a pizza with a flavorless crust. Not here, not at Sal's.
It's a good, consistent pizza experience. There is a reason that they've been successfully open for...
