I'm so full!!!! First off I will say when it comes to BBQ I am very picky. BBQ is an expensive thing s I want it done right. I read through all the negative reviews and must chalk it up to growing pains in the first few weeks, because what I had last night was amazing. We had the sampler platter so we could try a bit of everything and know for next time what we would want...well that didnt make it any easier. Every thing was so good. Yes the meat is shredded, but I like it that way. Everything was moist and flavorful, not overly spicy. I also liked the fact that the sauces were on the side as my husband, daughter and I were sharing the sampler. My daughter doesnt like a any sauce, I like sweet and my husband likes original. We had potatoes, mac and cheese, and corn bread on the side. The potatoes were lumpy (not in a bad way), like had little chunks of potatoes in them. They were very good. The corn bread!!!!! I told my husband I would be back to this place for just the cornbread. I am VERY picky about my cornbread, so many places make it so dry. This was so moist and had a nice sweetness to it. I did put honey and butter on it, but even without those it was perfect. Hopefully people understand different BBQ places make things in different ways. If they were all the same....well you know we wouldnt have the kansas city, st loius, texas, debate. I believe this will be...
Read moreWe’ve been loyal customers and have ordered from this restaurant for years because we love the food. However, our recent experience on 10/18 was disappointing due to poor customer service. We placed an order of over $100 directly through their website for delivery, which arrived on time. However, the BBQ sauce for the 2+ pounds of meat we ordered was missing.
I called the restaurant to inform them, and I was told that I’d have to come pick up the missing sauces since they didn’t have a driver available. This was confusing, as our food had just been delivered (and again, I had ordered directly through their website). Driving to the restaurant wasn’t an option for us since our baby was already asleep, so I requested a partial refund. The person on the phone said refunds weren’t possible and insisted the meat should be fine since it’s cooked with a little sauce. While their meat is tasty, BBQ sauce is essential for a BBQ meal – it’s not optional!
She then offered a gift card, but only if I visited the restaurant in person. When I asked for the gift card to be mailed or emailed, she said that wasn’t possible either. This entire experience felt like an unnecessary inconvenience. When a mistake is made, the resolution should be customer-friendly. Please don’t make it harder for your customers to correct an issue that was your responsibility in the...
Read moreThe staff was nice, very helpful and pleasant. The place is very clean and bright, overall nice atmosphere. The menu is simple, just meats, sandwiches, and sides, like any good bbq place should be.
The ribs were very dry, tough, and grey all the way to the bone. They were served separately, not in a rack, which was especially disappointing and probably why they were so dry. Also very low meat:bone ratio. I'm not sure if the whole rack was cooked and then cut and the parts stored under a heat lamp, or if they were cut individually and then cooked, but the method is not good. This was the most disappointing part of the whole meal, especially considering the price.
Pulled pork was ok, but it seemed like it had been baked instead of actually smoked. The little bit of bark there was was extremely chewy. The meat was a little gamey and pretty sloppy.
Chicken was pretty good, as was the coleslaw. The sauces were kind of all over the place. Memphis style was extremely vinegary, not like anything I've ever had in Memphis.
There's no appearance of a smoker on site, and I've never smelled any smoking actually happening when passing by or sitting at the stoplight next to the restaurant. Doesn't mean they don't actually cook on site or use a smoker, but just about every other bbq place in town makes it pretty obvious where the...
