This Thai restaurant is only a few blocks from our house but one block off the main road through the area, so unless you've been referred, or happen to drive by it, many wouldn't know it's there. So this was our first time supporting this local small business and we were impressed with the menu selection as well as the prices. We had a pair of shrimp "fresh rolls" which are large and loaded with shrimp and lettuce, accompanied by a very spicy thick and creamy peanut sauce. We've had peanut sauce at any number of Asian restaurants but this was the first spicy version. Loved it. I had the deep-fried tofu stir fry. The tofu was cut into 1" or so cubes and had great texture and mouth feel. My wife had the ginger chicken. We both love fresh ginger and this plate was served with lots of it, adding an extra punch of flavor. They offer up some interesting Thai desserts that we'll try in the future as well as some great beverage choices. The food was salted perfectly but we both thought that the sauces were "routine" and a bit bland, lacking in flavor that would have elevated my rating from 4 to 5 stars. We will continue to support Khon Thai by alternating take out (and dine-in once the social distancing guidelines are lifted) with a nearby popular competing local...
Read moreThe food here is easily the best thai in FoCo right now. I have eaten at thai restaurants in almost every city i have been to where they were available, and I can say thats a fairly extensive list, and this is one of the better ones. As with most places in this town they have some dishes you may not like, and from time to time its not as good as the last, but 90% of the time the food is very good, thai hot is fairly hot, yet I feel it used to be hotter, the noodles are on point, and I hade one of the best panang curry I've had in a long time. You can truly tell the owners are in it to win. The only reason I dropped a star was because of staffing. It takes a long time to get food on even days that should not be that busy and trying to get someone to answer the phone Thursday through Saturday at dinner time is almost impossible sometimes. I have called 30 times before in a row with no answer and decided to go with a different option. I would HIGHLY ...
Read moreThe food has always been tasty, but unfortunately the service has consistently been lacking. I waited near the host stand for over 10 minutes without ever being addressed, and decided to just leave. The Indian place next door addressed me within moments of entering. I tried again and dined in person. The service was fine until the food had been served, and then I didn’t see a single member of staff outside the kitchen for the next 45 minutes. I had an appointment and was starting to be concerned that I would have to go back there and fetch someone. Luckily I did not. I ordered takeout today, and one of the things I ordered was a $15 chicken dish. The chicken barely filled out half of the takeout container, which was a little disappointing. I’m not sure if this is a product of the economy or an issue with the restaurant, but I recommend providing more chicken or even adding vegetables to this dish to give the appearance that we’ve been served...
