I’m gonna start this review by saying Gully G whiz we hope they make it. This place needs some serious help or needs to just die already.
The servers there were very nice and nothing really negative to say about them, they didn’t have anything that stood out as five star. The atmosphere was generally nice, including nice music, clean restrooms, and overall a slight feeling of genuine ambience however, the chairs for their seating were repurposed office chairs that have their rollers cut in half at the bottom of the chair legs. This gave the entire restaurant a feeling of eating in a thrift shop.
The food was a great disappointment, not that it was inherently bad, but that their website lies about what they have on offer . To read their website it appears as though they have Turkish Jonah along with a great other number of hot dishes that simply do not exist at the restaurant. They have some pastries on offer with some really great Turkish coffee, however, all of these appear to have been frozen and then reheated resulting and rather soggy bottomed pastries throughout.
Additionally, today, when we went, they were out of several of the very limited items they had an offer ultimately resulting in us having to choose from only half a dozen or so different food menu items .
I’m not really sure what’s wrong with this establishment other than they can’t seem to afford to produce the menu that they promised on that website. I would love to see this place succeed and ultimately offer some great Turkish delights, however, they don’t seem to be in a position to offer much more than a mediocre...
Read moreWe were pretty excited to try this place having spent some time in Greece. It was great to see a Mediterranean restaurant offering up authentic cuisine just miles from our house. However, the entire process was painfully slow. The restaurant was empty and it took 50 minutes for us to get our order. Coffees took 30 minutes to come out with an empty restaurant. I seldom leave reviews but in respect of the restaurant and wanting this to hopefully help your business, this was totally unacceptable. Seeing that most menu items are prepped and ready to go, there is a serious breakdown in capabilities here that should be addressed. We really wanted this to be a place we could frequently return to, however, I can’t help but reconsider my intentions. It has been a while since we’ve experienced anything like this.
By the end of the experience we didn’t even receive everything we ordered. It took so long that we just left. They were comfortable letting us sit there without really even attempting to address the situation.
Food is okay, service couldn’t be worse. Restaurant is adorable. I sincerely hope things change so you can stay in business. I noticed multiple other reviews addressing similar issues, which tells me that something isn’t being talked about. If your staff isn’t willing to try and make things right then I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking through those doors again. Because of all of this, we will never come back. Your website brags about the quality, then you should considering owning up to your mistakes and doing...
Read moreI found this little cafe randomly while looking for breakfast. I'm happy I stopped in. The food, while some is not super authentic, is excellent. The coffee is decent and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The vibe is mellow and the location easy to get to and from. I enjoyed my stop here immensely. The staff were super sweet and tried very hard. You can't beat the prices for the platters. Mine was exceedingly fresh.
This leads me to my one serious critique and this is aimed more towards management and I hope they read this. The staff are not allowed to try the food without paying so they don't know what most of it tastes like. This is criminal. Please give your staff samples. How can they describe flavors and textures of an item they've never tried. Additionally, give them some education on the history and how important Turkish coffee is culturally. The fact they don't even know the basics about things like sweetness in relation to usage is tragic. You're trying to set up a vibe about all things Turkey and you ignore your staff's basic knowledge of the culture they're sharing? For shame.
Overall, I highly enjoyed my visit and recommend this shop even if you aren't as interested in food history and tradition as I...
