Other reviewers have talked about dining here and how they make you feel like family, it is simply amazing that we walked in as strangers and felt like honored family guests before we left. The warmth and hospitality shown by everyone there was greatly appreciated.
Now on to the truly homemade food... WOW ... Just trying to figure out how to make it back there this week during our trip to Florida so I don't have to wait a long time to eat there again. The Pork Sisig was amazing with the garlic rice. Just perfectly done with great flavor through out the dish!! Tried food from the buffet and everything was made in small portions so very very fresh and delicious. Please remember the buffet is only available on weekends, don't want you disappointed you missed it.
Now to housekeeping and I mean housekeeping in these COVID times. You see all the tables and chairs disinfected between customers. They go over them twice almost every time.this family truly cares about there guests and customers!! Before sitting down they have a large automatic sink installed to wash your hands ... A GREAT TOUCH for extra cleanliness in these times.
While on the house keeping the CR or Comfort Room / restroom was immaculate.... So clean and immaculate... Again a great touch for a family restaurant! Very unusual to see this level of cleaning anywhere in South Florida restaurants today.
So if you are looking for a great dining experience in South Florida Isla Pilipinas Cafe is the place to go and feel comfortable. Great food that they will explain to you and service that will astound you!!! Read moreVisiting Isla Pilipinas Cafe is like going to a friend's house after an intense game of tag or half-court basketball on the streets. The furniture is a pleasing, eclectic mish-mash of tables and chairs you'd find in someone's house which makes the ambiance homey yet classy. Real flowers and plants on the tables. The people are very friendly and engaging but not annoyingly so. We came pretty early for dinner so there was no wait. Monica, one of the co-owners, will greet and seat you. Edgar, the head chef, also came out to chat. The other chef, Jad, proudly served the sisig (chopped pork bits) on a sizzling plate with a warning about how hot it was. Found out he was also Monica's son, so it's quite a family affair. The food itself is authentically Filipino, with Knorr seasoning on the side upon request. It's buffet for lunch at $13.99 and à la carte for dinner with a good affordable price range. The dishes were pretty and made a unique collection of interesting place settings. The food were plated well, and very delicious. Some of the food or desserts may not be available so make sure to ask. One of us was craving for bibingka (rice cake baked over coals normally served around Christmas) but they were out. Had cassava cake instead. There was a wall with lettering that asked, "Taga Saan Ka (where are you from)" and of course we posed against it. Husband (white with upstate NY upbringing) thought fleetingly of giving the proprietor a hug with a "thanks, Tita (Auntie)!" since we really enjoyed our stay in this cute restaurant. Took many pictures of the place and menu -...
Read moreI had an absolutely wonderful experience at Isla Pilipinas Cafe for lunch the other day! I was really missing Filipino food and I had some friends popping into town for lunch and this seemed like a great place to meet for a meal. Once you walk through the door it feels like you're visiting with family. I loved the atmosphere in here-- so cozy and bright! I got the lemon ginger juice to drink and it was the perfect blend of sweet, sour, and spicy. We then got the lumpiang shanghai (eggrolls) which were PERFECT! So crisp and perfectly seasoned. We then moved onto the main event-- garlic rice, chicken pancit, BBQ, lechon kawali, and chicken adobo. It was all so incredibly delicious! It was like eating my mom's home cooking and provided the warmth and comfort of home. I'm a transplant to SoFlo and know that from now on whenever I miss my mom's cooking I will inevitably find myself here. We also indulged ourselves with the ube cake, halo halo, and leche flan for dessert and oh my word it was all so delicious! Though you can find flan pretty much everywhere in SoFlo, there's something so much richer and indulgent with a Filipino leche flan and this leche flan was absolute perfection. My friends who came with me had never had Filipino food before and couldn't get over how delicious the whole meal was. I would recommend Isla Pilipinas Cafe to any and everyone! Thanks so much to the staff at Isla Pilipinas for such a wonderful experience! I'll...
