This was my first time here I came for lunch on a Wednesday. Place was pretty packed considering the time and day of the week. You seat yourself which is fine. Place is very welcoming. Server was mediocre but nice and recommended which oysters she liked best and they were really really good. Only had drinks and appetizers so rating could possibly be better had I ordered an entree. I'll most definitely return so expect an updated rating soon. The drinks came out fast and were good. The conch chowder also came right out. It was ok but not what I expected as far as being tomato based I imagined it to be like clam chowder but with conch instead. I would recommend renaming this conch soup instead of conch chowder because that's what it gave me. The garlic bread was excellent not sure what the Bimini bread was (and wasn't really given an overview being it was my first visit) but I will try when I return. The conch fritters were ok and the grilled oysters were superb! Drinks were great. One coming in a plastic cup and the other in a nice glass kinda explains the place overall (homie but nice) if that makes sense. Patio view is great if you can get a seat out there. Boats come in and out and vibe is very relaxing. I would recommend servers asking customers if it's their first time and kind of giving an overview. I think they had specials on the board I glanced at leaving but I wasn't told anything. I will definitely return to try more menu items and get the night or...
Read moreHad lunch at Southport Raw Bar, and it wasn’t great. First - the food: Shared the peel and eat shrimp - they were warm and tasty, pretty typical fare. My spouse (DF/GF) ended up with Mahi Mahi tacos but in a lettuce wrap as they do not have corn tortillas. The fish was supposed to be grilled, and it might have been at one time, but it seemed like it came out of the fridge and was warmed up on the counter. Also, the lettuce “wraps” were less wraps than small leaves. What was really weird was they came with no salsa, veg, pico de gallo, nothing! We asked if that was the case for their tortilla tacos and were told yes. There was a small container of creamy sauce, but if I ordered tacos I would expect more. I had the hot dog, and not surprisingly it was the same - a weiner on a dry bun. There was ketchup and mustard on the table and I could have relish if requested, but it just seems weird to get such a plain offering. Next - the service: The server was friendly at first, but as soon as DF/GF was discussed, it was like we were lepers. I suppose that’s a little strong, but after a week in Florida it’s getting a little tiring and depressing being treated like we asked for the moon when only trying to have a conversation about what and what not would be safe to eat. This was not the first instance, nor the last. Why the theatrics? So - OK place IF you don’t ask for anything out of...
Read moreI have been coming to this place for over 20 years and it's still my favorite local spot to eat! Their food is always amazing and fresh. They have a great outdoor patio overlooking the water, but since everybody wants to sit out there, there will be a wait to sit outside. But who cares just relax, enjoy yourself, and grab a drink from the bar while you wait. They have live music some nights of the week which can be nice, but if that's not your jam, it can be a little loud. The oysters are fresh and amazing. Everybody always seems to get them. My go to favorite is the conch fritters as an appetizer. The Mahi mahi tacos and peel n eat shrimp are always delightful. I believe I've had their entire menu at this point and I can't say that I've honestly never been disappointed. When they have grouper, get the grouper, don't pass on the grouper. Stop reading this if you're in this restaurant and just order the grouper already and you can thank me later. All of the food and drinks are very reasonably priced for how fresh it is. So stop thinking about it already, just stop by, you're already in Florida. Why not sit outside and enjoy some delicious seafood, you owe it...
