The poor reviews are accurate. This Hyatt is old, worn down, and in much need of a full remodel. Wallpaper was peeling in the hallways
We were in a room on the 5th floor with 2 double beds. The beds were uncomfortable; we woke up with a sore back. The sheets felt thin and scratchy. The double blackout curtains were a convenient feature and made the room completely dark.
The air conditioning unit was noisy during the night. It never reached the desired temperature (despite it being December and cooler weather than usual) so it ran constantly. We woke up with sore throats. The second night we turned off the AC and this improved, although it got hot so we had to turn it back on.
The room could use some sound proofing. You can hear hallway noise and everytime a door opens or closes down the hall. There were other noises during the night that kept us awake.
Our room had a distinct musty, mold smell to it. It was worse in the bathroom. When we showered, water flooded the bathroom floor. It took multiple towels to soak it up around the toilet and alongside the tub/shower. The shower curtain didn’t have a liner. The only remedy to not flooding the bathroom was to turn the shower head into the wall. We made a maintenance request but they didn’t do anything. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls in the bathroom and there was clear water damage on the wall adjacent to the shower, indicating that this shower flooding was an ongoing issue.
The carpet was old and had many stains. We stayed three nights and housekeeping didn’t clean our room the first night. The lady tried to come in around 3pm (after the second night) to tidy up the room but we were getting ready for an event and didn’t have time for the interruption. We had to request more towels due to using them for the flooding bathroom and the lack of housekeeping.
The breakfast was your typical Hyatt place buffet but there was insufficient seating. People are sitting in the bar area and the lobby, some even standing around, because there isn’t a set breakfast room.
The layout of the lobby and bar area is narrow so you have to weave through people when there are crowds waiting to check in or out.
The noteworthy positives are that the staff was friendly upon check in, the room was spacious, the towels were nice, and the location of the hotel is within 10 minutes of Fort...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. We booked this hotel for 2 nights because of it's proximity to the airport and the free shuttle service. I had a problem at check in when their computer was down. When we arrived both elevators worked. We had a good sized room except for the dark cave like feel of the shower/toilet bathroom closet. Our 1st night was okay. The next morning I noticed the hot water in the shower didn't kick in until the end of my shower. We went on a walk around the Dania Point shopping complex and when we returned we noticed wet floor signs in the lobby blocking the hallway to the pool area and water running like a faucet. Also, 1 of the elevators were down. At no point did hotel staff make a statement. A few hours later the water main break letter was slipped under our door telling us we will have no water for 16 hours starting at 5pm. The letter was delivered at 5pm and we were now stuck with no running water in the hotel. We couldn't use the toilet, take a bath, or wash our hands. The letter did not provide a solution only they were sorry. When we went to the front desk they stated the hot water main broke and they were told by the county to turn off the water for repairs. They only offered showers at their sister property across the street and a bottle water. Needless to say that was unsatisfactory and staying in a hotel with no water is a health and sanitation issue. I watched them continue to check in guest during this time. The staff did not attempt to assist us with booking us into a sister property. They said we had to book our own reservation and they had to talk to the GM at the other property if they would match the nightly rate and get us a Lyft for transport to the other Hyatt because we wanted to leave. As more and more guest came down complaining the staff offered to refund us for our 1st night. We booked our own hotel and they would not shuttle us to their sister hotel, so we had to speak to the manager and complain in front of guest to get shuttled. The way this management staff and guest services handled this crisis was atrocious. They only cared about the money and not the health or well being of their guest. How can you expect people to live w/o use of water. This shows how the Hyatt brand feels about their guests and what is important to...
Read moreI want to start out by saying its not so much about the physical building and items in this hotel but more about the service and the wonderful assistance that me and my guests received from the staff. The rooms are nice, standard rooms,( I stayed in a two bedroom). The room has a nice small wet bar area with a fridge. The bed was comfortable, pillows of nice quality and fluffy towels, fresh and plentiful. It started out with just me staying in the room but two other friends ended up spending the night, as we had a long day in Miami visiting sites. The staff was so friendly and helpful, they could give suggestions on places to go for shopping and great food. When I needed extra items for my guests spending the night, they were more than helpful with making sure I had what I needed for them. One night the attendant on staff gave myself and my guest walking directions to go to CVS pharmacy (it was after 11:00 pm ), and after we did not come back in a reasonable time, Rose, the attendant on duty, called to CVS store to make sure we had made it and nothing had happened to us. The CVS store attendant was pleasantly surprised to learn that a hotel staff would care so much for their guests, and I was also very touched with this caring act of kindness. I would also like to thank James and Deion for being so pleasant and accommodating throughout my stay. James is very attentive to detail and assisted with kind conversation and helpful tips. Deion continuously had a endearing smile on his face. The staff made you feel very welcomed. All in all it was a pleasant stay at this hotel. They don't price gouge you like some of the nearby hotels. The parking is reasonable and you don't have to pay for a guest to come in and stay for more than an hour. The housekeeping staff was readily available and met my needs quickly. The pool is very basic but you probably aren't there for the pool anyway. This was a great stay in a great hotel, and the personal service far makes up for any miniscule deficits that could be pointed out from other reviewers. Shout out again to James,...
