My family and I received the worst service tonight at J. Mark’s Ft. Lauderdale. There’s no other way to say it but our waitress/server Jayda Sanchez was very prejudiced. We were seated and we waited for 10 mins or more and we were never greeted. My sister stopped a waitress near by and asked her if she knew who our waitress was. The waitress said I don’t know. So my sister walked up front to tell the hostess and hostess asked the same waitress my sister stopped earlier to help us. We had been sitting in her section the entire time. She was not pleasant at all to say the least. We were using a coupon that was sent directly to my email, which I showed her before placing our order. She did not inform us before, there would be some up charges for the loaded mash potatoes and peppercorn sauce for our steaks. Service was horrible. She did not want to serve us and it showed on her face, demeanor and in her actions. When the bill came she charged us full price for ours drinks and appetizers. Remember we had a coupon for everything we ordered . We asked her to correct the bill and she said that we had ordered the full price appetizers. I politely reminded her we did not because I showed her the coupon before placing our order. She was pissed. She left and never returned to the table with our card and cash. By that time my sister asked another waiter for a manager to come over. A very pleasant and bubbly Mia (manager) approached the table. She greeted both my sister and I and explained that she had removed one of the full price appetizers for $18.00 off the tab. My sister said oh no you need to remove both appetizers off totaling $36.00 because we ordered two appetizers that were supposed to be $5.00 each. She stated she could not because lying behind Jayda Sanchez told her that we ordered the regular price appetizers which was a blatant lie. The manager said that Jayda told her that we never showed her the coupon. I then took out my phone and showed Mia the coupons on my phone. The manager was shocked that she had been lied to by her employee and apologized repeatedly for Jayda’s behavior. Mia very apologetic left the table immediately to correct the bill. Jayda Sanchez hid-in the kitchen after trying to make us pay full price for items that we did not ordered. If she did not want to serve women of color she should have asked for someone else to take care of us instead of ruining our night out. Jayda Sanchez, I hope that you learned a lesson tonight which is not to judge a book by its cover. That it’s not nice to tell lies, because you look like a CLOWN in the end. You should pray that you and your family are never discriminated against when out to dinner one day. What ever happened to providing excellent service to every customer that walks through J. Mark’s doors. Were the reason you receive a paycheck. If I could have given you zero stars for the service I would have. You sucked, but the food was delicious. Thank you for ruining...
Read moreDined 1/19/25 around 7. We were seated quickly, BUTTTTT after about 10 no one ever stopped by our table. The restaurant wasn't busy and waiter were attentively attended other customers who seemed to be enjoying themselves. An occasional glance to where we were sitting and still nothing. I then stop a waitress to see if she could find out who's serving us. She said she'd check BUT never came back. After that I walk to the front passing the waitress who was supposed to check into it for us. I get to the front to ask were we seated in a closed area and she's shock no one came. Low and behold, the very same waitress who didn't know who was serving us was our waitress. Her name was Jayda S. and I specify because there are two Jayda's. She wasn't happy and neither were we but we tried to make the most of it. She wasn't friendly and not the most courteous server at all. She input the order incorrectly and overcharged us for items. I address the issue with her and she goes back to fix it, so we think. Then the manager comes over with it partially corrected. I told her, no you're going to totally fix it because it was her fault and also told her about our experience. She's like that's not what I was told shockingly. I gave her the truth, she went back to address Jayda S., then came back with the receipt corrected. Jayda never shows her face again. We entered, sat, waited patiently to a point. We expected a wonderful time out but had the worse experience because of Jayda S. who seems to pick and choose who she waits on. I guess we didn't look like good tippers, funny thing is, we're great tippers because we understand the industry. Jayda S. needs to be trained to treat customers with kindness and courtesy because in the end the tip is going to be green and not in BLACK or WHITE! In no way am I condemning the restaurant, but Jayda S. needs more training or to be released. Thank you to the young lady manager who was on shift and dealt with us like the PROFESSIONAL that she is. Shame on you Jayda S.!...
Read moreThis was my first time going to this restaurant & I went with a group of four other friends, only two of which had been once before. The place was 3/4 full at the time we arrived around 7:30pm.
Overall: Don’t go here if your thirsty or hungry, or looking for even subpar service or good food (especially steak or fish & chips) Over-hyped as some kind of posh eatery, but in reality it is just over-priced to compensate for all of its food shortcomings. Unanimously agreed we will all go to J Alexander’s next time!
Pro: Nice vibes & clean washroom
Cons: Our waiter was one of the poorest I’ve had in a long time! Five of us at the table, but he only brought three menu’s & NEVER brought any more. We all literally only got two drinks each over the 90ish minutes we were there; of the two times he got two of our soda’s mixed up both times. This waiter NEVER came back one single time after the food was brought out other than to drop the bill, which he also just assumed it was all on one bill; I assume he was too lazy to ask how to separate the bill. My medium-rare NY strip steak was cooked to medium-well..& was the blandest tasting steak ever! It would've been manageable with some steak sauce, but since the waiter NEVER came back after the food was brought out by some other staffer, I just sat there and waited for about 30 minutes hoping he would come back to ask how everything was but NEVER came back until he swung by to drop the bill & brought a tiny little box; drinks were all empty at this point and he still never asked if we wanted refills or more mixed drinks. I’ve had Steak & Shake steaks that were one hundred times more flavorful. Another one of my friends got the Fish & Chips and it was the greasiest fish I’ve seen since I was a kid in Long John Silvers with my grandparents..the fries he got were described by him as “void of any crisp or decent flavor”, so it wasn’t just my...
