Literally the worst customer service and deceitful tactics for subpar food. I called on a Saturday night to order a medium sushi and roll platter($75)and immediately was greeted by a very rude woman (hostess). She would not disclose what fish they use for the chef’s choice and instead of attempting to ask the chef what the fish would be for today to accommodate food sensitivities, she told me that it was really busy and she won’t ask. She then proceeded to put me on hold for 10 minutes (put the phone down) and was talking in the background, only to hang up. I called back and she then took my order, clearly disgruntled by my question, but reassured me that the chef’s choice for sushi rolls will be amazing and the fresh picks of the day. When we picked up the food, we realized they had given us a California roll for one of the rolls- this was supposedly the chef’s choice. I called back since paying $75 for 30 small pieces of sushi and 3 rolls, one being a California roll, was not justifiable given our earlier conversation on the phone. Upon asking about this, I was yelled at and berated by the same woman, who proceeded to tell me that this is what they give in the platters all the time and “no one has complained so far”. Obviously this is a new establishment because this would not pass for those who expect sushi in an area with many sushi restaurants (at the very least a tuna or salmon roll) as chef’s choice. She then barked at me asking am I not going to eat the California roll or what and ‘what do I want, why are you calling again’, never letting me speak and raising her voice over me. I stayed on the phone- in silence and disbelief. I will not order from this restaurant again as they think berating customers is okay and are intolerant of any questions. God forbid we had a serious allergy- they would not even lend an ear. Save yourself the poor experience and order elsewhere for better fish unless you want a...

My family (and friends), who had been regular customers here, had an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience. We placed a sushi platter order over the phone the day before our event and requested to switch the California roll to a salmon roll. We were told it would be $1 extra for the substitution as it has always been. The total quoted was $78.91.
However, when we arrived, the price had mysteriously increased by more than $10, with no explanation. The salmon roll substitution was now $2 extra, and it didn’t even include avocado or cucumber. To make matters worse, a 3.5% credit card fee was added without any prior notice, only revealed after the card was charged.
Then came the billing confusion: we were first charged $90.50, then $82.77, and finally $81.67, DESPITE the owner agreeing that the original total of $78.91 should be honored. When questioned, she blamed a new credit card machine and claimed she was still getting used to it. She also blamed a part-time worker who only works once a week, which felt dismissive, ridiculous and unprofessional.
We understand that mistakes happen and that a credit card fee is standard in some places, but this must be clearly communicated beforehand, not after the fact. Instead, we felt like we were being taken advantage of, and the attitude we received from both the owner and the staff only made things worse.
This experience felt more like a scam than a proper dining transaction. My family and our broader group of friends will not be returning. Please double check your bill and be cautious if you...

I used to be a big fan of AKASAKA based on my previous experience. Today I recommend it to my friends and we ordered the large sushi and sashimi combo plate. We picked up the food and went to my home. But we found the salmons in both sashimi and sushi are stink. We 5 people all 100% sure that the salmons are not fresh. Then I called AKASAKA. I explained to the lady who picked up the phone about the issue.
Without any apologies, She asked me what do you want? And She told me all she can do is to ask me to go back to AKASAKA next day and she will replace the salmon pieces for me. I told her I don’t want to come tomorrow, can you deliver it to me since it was the restaurant‘s fault to sell unfresh fish to the customer. Or can I just get the money back only for the salmon pieces. But she rejected.
TBH, I did not care about the refund nor replacement of the fish. All I want is to let them know the fish are not fresh and an apology from AKASAKA. However, Through all our conversations, I did not feel any sorry from her nor any apologies.
At the end I told her I won’t come next day and I will never order from them again.
Tonight I got texts from two of my friends who had dinner with me. They all said they feel uncomfortable after eating the sushi and sashimi from AKASAKA.
All above is my real experience. I’ll never order from AKASAKA again and I don’t recommend...
