Came here for the first time tonight, my wife saw a post in the SWFL foodies FB group. Glad she sent it to me, because this place is incredible. Our whole table of six thought the same thing, and we are now in food comas! The waiter said that everything is made in house by his dad, and it was clear! The kimchi is amazing.
What really helped bring it together was our waiter - he was able to walk us through the menu and explain what the dishes were including some of his favorites. His favs were spot on. But every dish we got we shared some and everything was so good. He also suggested some of his dad's homemade pineapple saki that was delightful.
The fried chicken (Yangnyeom and soy) is delicious and crunchy and tied for my favorite along with the jeyuk bokkeum (stir fried pork). So much flavor! I had the Ojingeobokkeum (stir fried squid) and it was incredibly flavorful as well, though I think I liked the pork version slightly better. The Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) were really unique and very much like a comfort food. I really enjoyed the bites I had!
Not sure who made it 4.9 stars, because this place is 5 stars...
Read moreI’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about JUN, so we finally had to give it a try. I haven’t been to this location since about 2012-2013 when it was formerly Mr. Mees. They have renovated it and it is very clean! Rose is amazing and truly makes you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. We were in the mood for sushi, so that is what we got. However, next time we are coming back for their Korean dishes. We started off with the edamame with the spicy garlic butter on the side so that my son could have plain edamame. It was delicious and spicy. Then my son had a ginger salad and a California roll. He devoured his food. We shared a spicy tuna roll, volcano roll, and a crazy roll. It was the best sushi I’ve had in a while. Everything tasted so fresh. The presentation was sweet with the message in eel sauce. We had a bottle of Orin Swift’s Abstract wine and a glass of Prosecco. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be...
Read moreFormerly Mr Mees I'm not exaggerating if I said the food had actually been stepped up a couple of notches. We loved Mr. Mees and it was our go-to for almost 30 years so walking in and finding out it was under new ownership was a bit of a shock.
Initially apprehensive we decided to go ahead and give it a try. Boy am I glad we did.
My wife was still able to enjoy her favorite sushi and I tried one of the Korean stews which was fantastic. It was a true Korean dining experience.
Not only did we get the main dish but they also brought us the traditional side dishes which we didn't expect.
The new owners are personable, attentive, and answered all my questions about what I was actually enjoying.
The price for our dinner with all the sides and drinks was around $40. And the portions were more than ample. I'm a pretty big eater and I still brought home some leftovers.
So if you're a fan of Korean food, don't wait to check...
