It was already a hard day for me because my mother had passed away earlier so we, meaning my dad and myself were so tired and I suggested that pizza place I got a little bit ago and he said he would try it but he was an Italian chef in his prime days and it is a tall order to get him to like a pizza that he did not make. If I could possibly have known that he would be a person who cares about life against all odds just because he was so shocked when he took his first bite and he looks at me as if he was so mad he was going to cry and say something like he can't even get a hold of a good friend because they are all dead and I can understand that even though I don't like it but I don't understand why they don't care anymore good, solid people that are walking away from the world and doing it on their own terms and it doesn't matter I'm not sure if I will be around much longer but it was already a hard day for me and my dad that was married for 55 years had the best piece of pizza in his 88 years and he has been all over the world in the 60s too! The ingredients are so clean I can taste each of them and the dessert is all amazing which is a lot to say with the amount and difference between them. Even the delivery driver is an amazing man and always honest with me because I have tipped on the phone and I was trying to give him a little extra and he said he got a tip already and that makes me feel like he deserves it even more and I had to fight him to get him to take it but I won! I'm sorry I had taken the best photo of my last order but I have been very busy with my mother dying I left my phone somewhere and I didn't get to recover anything from that phone and it wasn't under my Google account so I guess it's going to have to wait until the next time. Thanks for the best pizza place in my neighborhood. I'm Italian from the New England area but I have been to the best places in NY, Boston and Chicago and I have to admit I was rather unimpressed with the pizzas that are supposed to be so famous in Chicago but to each their own and it is just not for me. I'm looking forward to trying out the meatball sliders 😜 for a bit and whenever I'm ready to go and get some something comes up as if I don't have the right timing so I'll let it go and flow to the day I can get some sliders. I've had all the dessert and I have to know if you are making it in house or where you are getting them from being so good and it doesn't have a chemical or box taste that are in a lot of bulk dessert especially since they have to freeze them for transport but it tastes like it was made in the back of the house or maybe even in someone's house. I think I have spoken to the owner and he was a very kind person who cares about the patrons of McGregor Pizza and as soon as they get a taste of the pizza they are now family, friendly and fun people that don't care about the things that they don't have in common because they have one thing to be there for and it transcends the other bullshit of the world and it is all good and all get along well. I love my McGregor...
Read moreIt’s a shame that local businesses can’t afford to help out loyal customers when something goes wrong. Pizza is solid, a lot of love goes in to crafting something for someone to enjoy. Whether that’s the love for food or love for money is for you to decide at this place. If they get your order right it’s a great pizza place that will make you not want to go anywhere else. But if something’s wrong you’re going to have to dispute that charge because you’re out of luck.
I ordered a calzone and wasn’t enjoying the cheese. Tasted almost like a sour cream cheese, just overall wasn’t what I was used to, and did not taste like any ricotta cheese I’ve ever had. No big deal, dishes don’t have to be for everyone. Maybe they’ll apologize and see if you want something else for the same price you paid? No definitely not, bold of me to assume. Times are tight, we have to scrape by and make ends meet. Take what we can get here and there. If one of their customers aren’t happy send em on their way we got what we need!
I called and very kindly asked if I could return the sour calzone and get a replacement just to show that I wasn’t trying to get a free meal. After all, I do like to tip every time I go to help out struggling local businesses. Or maybe I was just being nice giving a little extra for my almost $40 pizza and calzone. I was instantly shut down that the calzone was not wrong and Katie proceeded to try and lecture me about what goes into a calzone. She proceeded to tell me how I was mistaken for what my concern was and that I must not know what ricotta cheese is. I hadn’t even gotten to my second concern but Katie is very adamant about how things are and doesn’t back down from a fight, even if it’s one she has created herself. Katie won’t let the opposition win because you’ll never get a chance to speak either. Katie is kind at first but was hostile the first chance she got. All I wanted was a delicious calzone but I’m not sure they make any here.
If you’re looking for some good pizza and want to support a struggling business this is your spot. Don’t get too hooked on the yummy pepperoni though as when something goes wrong, you’re the problem.
Also, their Margherita pizza is just a cheese pizza with sliced up tomatoes chunks and burnt basil. You usually place neat slices of Roma tomatoes with slices of fresh mozzarella that able to melt and create pools of cheese with nice undertones from the tomatoes and basil. If Katie would like for me to help show her or lecture her on how that is made too I would be more than happy to do so.
Here is a photo showing what a real Margherita pizza is - in case Katie does not know what slices of...
Read moreIt’s my neighborhood pizza place but unfortunately will not be returning. Ordered a meat pizza and anti pasta salad 8/29/19. Got it home and the crust on the pizza was black on one half. We called and said “we have a pizza that’s overdone” being nice. The woman that answered the phone said she looked at it and it looked fine but we can bring it back and get another one or she could give us 15% off our next order. 15% really? Not looking for a free pizza but you served us a burned pizza and you're going to offer 15%? Not acceptable. I didn't want to drive back and neither did my husband. NO offer of delivery, which they do, so I took the pizza back and asked for a new one. The woman behind the counter was unapologetic and actually rolled her eyes at us. Burned food and crappy service. Save your money and go to Bon Appetito, they are amazing. Update: Didn't think it could get worse but our new replacement pizza was raw in the center. Crust was great, but half the pizza was wasted because it was inedible.
Update: I'm replying to the manager/owner's response with is completely inaccurate. My husband did not place the order, I did. Furthermore, I did not order thin crust. I ordered Gios meaty pizza with extra cheese and yes the pizza was burned and no you did not offer 50%. You offered 15%. Anybody that thinks that pizza was not burned should not be in the restaurant business. I can tell by your response that you are cynical and take no responsibility for the poor quality of food that comes out of your establishment. I am not the only reviewer to say that the pizza or food in general was served overcooked or burned. I will not be back to your establishment but my final advise to you would be to improve your food quality and your customer...
