Mel's Diner - Fort Myers — Restaurant in Fort Myers

This is what I received after asking what the host/to-go order taker suggested for me to order to go for the evening... Would you like to know what this menu item is? It is supposed to be an appetizer. Although it looks to me like they opened a can of spinach and saved half the can and poured the other half for the next Patron. I had ordered a $38 meal brought it up to my room, opened everything the wets were wonderful as always. Then I opened up what I thought would be spinach pie. It was past 10:00 so I figured I'd bring it back the next day since I've been going to Mel's since I was a kid in Naples I didn't think there would be a problem. The man that taking my order the day before and suggested this spinach pie was not there. The new host / to go menu taker man questioned the fact that I ordered anything at all from them yet I asked does not it's just not your to go box is this Not Your Spinach do you not have spinach pie on your menu I said I ordered $40 to go order for myself and I received a can half a can of spinach for spinach pie. He asked if I had a receipt. And refuse to replace this wonderful spinach pie I had heard so much about the day before. Mel's Diner was a wonderful place when I was a kid the Ambiance is wonderful but now I believe it's run by Perkins type individuals and is just another Rundown restaurant in Fort Myers it's disappointing I know the family. Just as they used to be good people and now seem entitled over the top above the regular person because they've made it individuals. In very disappointing. Okay! I'm going to try not to cry as I write this!😭😭😭 LISTEN Y'ALL!! I very highly recommend this place! The service when I first walked in wasn't so remarkable. I also noticed that it seemed like the people with darker skin were seated near the corners and back walls.

But let me tell you, my waitress was named Kimberly! Kimberly is everything you would want in a waitress! She is friendly, sweet, patient, professional, "D" all of the above!!

I chose to order the all you can eat fish (even though I only had one plate of it). And I got the mild High corned beef! It came with coleslaw, and I substituted my fries for some onion rings!

OK!! People that are close to me know that I HATE coleslaw in every way! But baby! If this is how it's supposed to really taste, then please give me the recipe!!! Sooo deliciously perfect!!! I LOVE IT!!!!

Two, that little sauce that came with the onion rings, is the BEST!!!😭 It is perfect with the corned beef because I ate it with everything haha!! The fish was bombed too!

This was a busy place and I can totally see why. But the only problems I had with Kimberly were she took a little too long to come out when it was time for me to pay my bill. Also, when I asked for a large cup of the orange sauce. She brought out to small partially filled cups of it, and said she didn't have a big cup. Which I know most likely wasn't true but whatever.

Okay so me my mother a 2yr old son came for dinner this evening we showed up about 6:30pm and were seated right away. Wasn't busy at all. We look over the menus then as a good 3min go by Justin came by the table and asked for our drinks. Now I'm a waitress myself so this is especially not good because making guest wait that long before greeting the table or just a knowledge is if your busy. Anyhow so our drinks come to the table 2 at a time. Now my mother got a bloody Mary that was really bloody and I got a margarita that was definitely straight sour and lime juice. And the celery haha .. well then we had to ask for our order to be taken because the table that came in after us got their order first before ours. So that was confusing a bit. Well after finally ordering our food the appetizer came out with 6 onion rings, our salad just Tom., Cucumber and lettuce, my prime rib came out with fries I stead of the baked potato. He didn't ask for the cook temp on the prime rib, so I asked for my bakes potato and he brought it to the table in foil and just sat it on the table no plate, sour cream or butter!. Worst experience ever when I asked for management a gentleman came over and just was over all rude and determined to argue that he was right. Well my experience you don't do that.
