Definitely geared 4 tourists, but it's the beach in FL. Don't think they lower prices in summer but should Overpriced & mediocre Couldn't even get 1 square piece of tuna they put in my wraps, fresh. They were close to or over $20, so expected more fish. Waitress was very nice through out and did come back to tell me that she was wrong, tuna was not fresh caught. Good service but it was slow. Had live music on a weeknight. My drink ,I thought would be frozen, wasn't and didn't taste like it had any fresh fruit in it My friend got a Mule drink and it was best tasting part of the meal. Bill well over $100 for 2 apps and 1 shrimp & grits( looked good to me except had more of a soup like consistency. The time I had it, the grits were firmer. (My visiting friend can be particular, though, as he is a world traveler & said it was "meh") & 3 drinks. On marina, so boats blocked view of ocean Floor is real sand & am not blaming restaurant b/c its not due 2 negligence Sand fleas bit me on my foot and ankle. It may just be me, but not much itches like those little buggers and had to actually take Benadryl to sleep. Live nearby on a farm & deal with all kinds of bites but I don't live close enough to beach and have not had these kind of bites at home, so they had to be from sand. Advise anyone who is sensitive to them 2 (nothing itches as badly, for me) Please wear repellent on legs if eating at/or around the beach. It had to be around there or Square Grouper (another sand floor )b/c only 2 places i went Seems kinda silly to mention this but if you're allergic to them, like me, it's miserable, you can scrape your skin off. Benadryl lets you sleep. They tend to itch at night and are small raised red dots & can see them clearly as they are in a group or line. They got they my left foot instep & bit me about 15 x In case you don't know what bit you and you were near or in sand & you're miserable cause you itch so much Severe for 2 nights, so expect that. I have lived on Treasure Coast for 2 years and honestly have to say I haven't eaten out much, but I was surprised that there was no fresh fish at Cobbs. We stopped somewhere else nearby 1st b/c I called and they had 2 fresh catches. 12A Buoy If I want frozen fish, I can go to supermarket. This place didn't take reservations and was crowded We got seated b/c we sat in the bar. Prices were even higher and waiter informed us to expect possible 45 min wait for our food. My friend didn't want to wait that long, so we left. Honest of the waiter, but must be so successful to get away with 45 min wait, to eat, for just 2 ppl. A group would have had to wait an hour. I really wanted to eat there b/c I heard that the food was very good. Any place on the beach is geared toward tourists and costs are exorbitant, except Chucks A commercial fisherman friend recommended it but only saw fried fish on menu. Prices are more reasonable than any other place on the beach, I know of. It is family owned & has been around a long time There is only one very reasonable non-chain restaurant( there are 2) I know of and thats Grandpa's which is my fav place to get lunch or land lubber food. I have had their broiled Cod and it was good, as everything I've gotten there, is. There is one other local place, not cheap but not way overpriced and that's St Lucie Draft House. Shrimp wraps are the best, imo. Both, not at beach Thought I may as well do my food diary, as I wont eat at beach unless I have guests or want to eat there on a beautiful night but that will mean crowds. Only had 1 good meal at one of 5 restaurants ive eaten, on the water If youre local u probably know where to go. If you're visiting,do some research, talk to locals because it will cost you minimum, $100 for 2 ppl and, so far, I haven't tasted anything worth that. Try to find out the best thing each restaurant does. That way, you'll, at least, enjoy your $40 plate & $25 appetizer. It's the beach in FL and even in supermarkets, food is 30% higher than GA. Know prices have gone up everywhere but a problem 4 middle/working...
Read moreMy father and I have been traveling down the intracostal waterway for about a week. I was getting a little stir crazy so he offered to dock for a couple nights at the Fort Pierce City Marina. After a quick shower at the marina, I strolled over to Cobb's Landing. It was practically onsite and was highly recommended by the staff of the Marina. Also, if you stay at the Marina, you get a voucher for 20% off your total bill including drinks. My main goal of this visit to Cobb's Landing though was to get my drink on and to relish the joy of being on land. There were a few empty seats at the bar but the chairs are so close together it was hard to get a spot but the very nice (and cute) and super professional bartender Chris took my drink order and opened up my tab anyway. I found a spot a few mintes later and had a great time chatting with the locals. There was a good cover band playing. The ambiance is chill - perfect tiki-bar-in-the-tropics vibe with nice seating and yard games to play. I didn't get any food but I will likely swing in there later today for an app. Prices are very good for drinks and food. I highly recommend this spot when in Fort Pierce.
Update: I came back today and had a Frozen Rum Runner and a Half & Half (salad and soup combo) with a house salad and lobster & crab bisque. Wow! Yum! It was a perfect portion and I LOVE that they toss the salad in the dressing prior to serving. It's a nice touch that makes a world of difference in the flavor of the salad. Plus, the dressing is homemade and SO GOOD!! The bisque is perfectly creamy and they don't skimp on the crab and lobster meat. You have to...
Read moreIt was our first time visiting this waterfront restaurant. It has a great atmosphere with it being located at the marina. It gives that open air island vibe. They were playing live music and the place seemed to attract a lot of people for that alone. And probably drinks! The place seemed like more of a bar than a restaurant. Their menu has a lot of "bar food" not so much on the dinner entrees. It just seemed like a lot of glorified appetizers as meals. Which is fine because I feel like that's their style. It's a very casual, laid back atmosphere so don't expect it to be a fancy restaurant. Our food was plated nicely but honestly wasn't anything spectacular to write home about. No one ate all of their food. They just picked through it and ate bits and pieces out of it. I ordered the shrimp scampi. Was not a traditional shrimp scampi at all. The shrimp were cooked in the pasta. Which the pasta was gummy and the sauce would not stick to it. My mom had crab cakes and she said they had more breading in them than crab. Fish tacos had hard, dried tortillas. So everyone's good was not the best. We arrived at 7 pm to eat, by 8 - 8:30 the mosquitos were tearing us up! They do a good job of running ceiling fans to help deter that issue and keep it cool but the mosquitos were relentless so we had to get out of there. I don't even know if they have indoor seating. If they do I don't think it's a very big seating area. It's nice to sit out under the tiki and feel the breeze. Just be warned. Because tiny visitors will be showing up so wear...
