I truly dislike leaving a bad review for a small business. However, after many visits to this diner I felt it was necessary to share my experiences. Today my girl and I stopped by for breakfast after my Dr’s appointment. After spending all morning in a waiting room we were looking forward to not having to cook. I ordered a Tuna Salad Sub with bacon. The bacon was $2.95 extra. My girl ordered pancakes with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. Needless to say I couldn’t finish my sub. It was HEAVY on the Mayo! The bun was also too much. Biting into it would cause most of the tuna salad to be pressed outside the bun and onto my plate. Also, there was no bacon. They offered to bring it but I had already decided that I couldn’t finish the sandwich. My girls breakfast was not too good either. The meal was brought to the table minus the eggs. They came a little later. The bacon and sausage patties were burnt. Not well done but burnt and black in color. The sausage was difficult to cut with a knife, having been burnt as well. When the scrambled eggs arrived they were watery. This leads me to believe they weren’t cooked to order. Instead maybe they were pre-made, only to be warmed up later. The pancakes were ok and edible. The only highlight was Jeanie. She is a waitress at Dave’s Diner and is a total pleasure to be around. Unfortunately she wasn’t our server but she was so attentive to us. She understands customer service. The cooks and our server DO NOT. I’m not a restaurant owner or even a cook for that matter. But I would NEVER allow plates like these to be served. One look at the bacon and sausage should be enough to warrant at least a pause. “Maybe we ought to try again.” But that’s just it, this place seems to have given up trying to serve a decent meal. I also must add that I found myself cursing this establishment for the explosive diarrhea I suffered after eating here. Pictures attached (not of...
Read moreIt's one of the few places on Hutchinson Island where you can sit down for breakfast, and I was really surprised that they're open 24hrs. That really baffles me. Is there demand for that?? It's a little on the gritty side. There is some outdoor seating if you can stand the heat, humidity, mosquitoes, and no-see-ums. There is a breakfast special on the front cover of the menu offered with the typical fare. Wasn't very impressed with the quality though. Eggs has the lightest colored yolks I've ever seen and didn't seem to have much flavor. The bacon wasn't bad, but a tad on the thin side. The homefries were cut into quite large chunks and although browned, they needed to be cooked longer in my opinion. The toast was claimed to be sourdough, but it didn't taste like it, and was slathered in something I was not sure was real butter. The jury is still out on that. The jams were like the peel open single serving you get with Smuckers, but were an inexpensive copy. The steak sauce, although it looked like an A1 bottle, was an off brand copy. Same goes for other condiments. Coffee was not very tasty. Actually, I didn't like it at all since I drink my coffee black and can actually taste it better than people who load it with cream and sugar. It was bitter and tasted cheap. I refused refills. Server was pleasant and attentive. Guy cooking behind the counter...
Read moreI went there for their usually fantastic eggs benedict. Unfortunately, they had a plumbing problem despite being closed for renovations. There was one person sitting at the counter...I sat next to him because all the other seats had dirty dishes in front of them. To my shock the seat I sat in was in front of the dishwashing sink. An employee was washing dishes with dirty pots and pans in front of me. I moved and an employee removed the dishes and wiped the counter with the same cloth she had been using since I arrived, no sanitation or rinsing.
About the time I ordered my meal, the dishwasher drained one of the sinks which immediately flooded the floor in front of the grill. Dave went ballistic, yelling at her. Dave started preparing my meal but was very preoccupied with the water on the floor.
When presented my meal, the potatoes were CHARRED black, as was the Canadian bacon and the muffin. The poached eggs weren't poached, the yokes were solid. Dave immediately the restaurant and was no where to be found.
I went back the next day... of course Dave walked out as I walked in. I spoke to his wife who was very nasty and sarcastic and said there was nothing she could about it. So much for customer service!!! I intend to report this to the board of health and recommend nobody eat there until They...
