We decided to try Good Fella's for the 1st time after seeing a positive review in the River Valley Foodies Facebook Group recently. We went at 4:30pm on Wed, March 20th. (NOTE: They're CLOSED on Tuesdays, but open on Mondays).
It wasn't crowded. There was a group of four already eating at another table when we arrived. We got to choose our own table. The decor has a very kitchy "Goodfellas 50's" vibe. The waitress spoke somewhat broken English, but seemed to manage understanding us just fine. She was very pleasant & very attentive throughout the whole meal.
We loved the complimentary warm rolls & olive oil dip with fresh garlic & other spices in it! Very tasty! We ordered "The OG" 16" Pizza for the two of us (minus the mushrooms). It came out LOADED with toppings & the crust was just right. We ended up only being able to eat 3 slices between the both of us & took the rest home.
The only negative was that the music being played (from the big band era) was TOO LOUD. Big band music from the 40's & 50's should be played at a lower volume in a restaurant that size (the trumpets are loud & high pitch) & the music shouldn't be a distraction while trying to enjoy a meal. Hopefully, the Mgmt will see this review & turn the volume down a few notches.😉
Other than that, I expect we'll be going back again. Maybe next visit we'll give a pasta dish &...
Read moreI went here with my mother for the first time today. They have a lunch special until 2pm and we were looking forward to our entree. Upon entering the restaurant, the seats were empty besides another employee and small child at a booth. The waitress was cleaning the bar and said she'd be with us shortly. We sat for a few minutes while she finished and she brought over menus and asked what we wanted to drink. As she brought the drinks back she asked if we were ready to order and we hadn't had time to read the specials so she went back to talking to the other employee. A good ten minutes goes by and she comes over to take our order and I tell her we want to do the lunch menu and she goes "Oh lunch ends at 2!" IT WAS 2:05!! I was at my table before 2pm and so when I asked her about that she told me the kitchen wouldn't let her. Which doesn't make sense to me, but I didn't argue. This really put a damper on our experience and we considered walking out, but we were hungry so we each ordered ordered fried raviolis with Alfredo and pink sauce. We also got free bread. The sauces were their saving grace, very complex and delicious flavors! I probably won't step foot back inside the restaurant, but the food is...
Read moreDishes had: Kimber's Alfredo, Chicken Tortellini Alfredo, Fried Ravioli and Fried Calamari.
The Fried Ravioli could have passed as being frozen or pre-prepared with the presentation and flavor. The Fried Calamari, while lacking seasoning, was cooked well and quite tender. The Chicken Tortellini Alfredo had similar issues with the fried ravioli as the stuffed pasta seemed frozen and pre-prepared. The sauce for alfredo dishes seemed very thin and mildly flavored, as if the sauce had not been fully reduced. The Kimber's Alfredo was however overpowered by the dark crab meat included in the pasta, which left the whole dish with a strong bitter and metallic taste.
For the service, my table was often bypassed in favor of the surrounding tables, which seemed to be an issue for tables farther away from the main counter. It took 25 minutes and two table visits after asking for a takeaway container to receive one and to...
