I was invited to a 12:00 lunch with some family members the day after a wedding. I showed up at 11:55am. The table was ready except they were still bringing some chairs over, no big deal. My wife, my 2 year old daughter and I sat down and waited for others to join.
Then the fun part began. Apparently there was a mishap with some family members with returning their tuxedos so they were running late. Every 5 minutes the owner/manager or his wife would come by and ask us if the rest of the party was coming. I kept telling him "as far as I know, yes".
Family kept trickling in and a few of them ordered some drinks while we waited. My wife, daughter and I were happy with our waters. Eventually our 15 person party was up to 10 people with about 6 or 7 drinks. The family member who organized the event was finally there and I could finally send the manager to him to answer all of his pestering "are they coming" questions.
Eventually the openly rude manager got fed up and kicked us out. Saying how he is in business to make money and not give us a free place to sit. We said we would happily compensate the waitress double for the time we took. He told us he didn't care about her tips and that we needed to get out and never come back.
It took about an hour to get everybody there. I understand his frustrations. I wouldn't have been happy about it either. Keep reading, though. If I had been in his situation, I would've asked to either give up the tables while we wait, or leave. But not to leave and never come back. We explained our situation to our waitress, and she was awesome about everything.
So my family agreed to go to Friends restaurant. They all left, and my wife and I packed up our daughters toys and my daughter and were walking out the door. The manager chases me down in the parking lot and says "Hey, whose going to pay for those drinks?" I responded "Since you kicked out the people who ordered them, it looks like you are."
He threatened me with the police if I did not come in and pay for the drinks of OTHER people that HE removed from his restaurant.
The wait staff was incredibly nice and understanding.
The guy in charge as well as his wife were horrible the entire time and when I say the entire time, I mean at 12:05 he started rudely asking me if they were coming. Rude, rude, rude people.
And when the owner/manager reads this, I hope you feel ashamed of your actions. I will never recommend that anybody ever has to deal with...
Read moreIn my opinion, Cosmos is one of the top locally owned restaurants in the Fort Wayne area. I was surprised this morning with an updated menu look. The new menu featured a slimmed down version of all the popular favorites. The sleek design was very readable and helped with my decision making. While the menu may look different, the restaurant's cozy atmosphere and friendly customer service are still the same. Cosmos has been a favorite of mine for years. They consistently produce good food with quick turnaround times and I have always appreciated that about them.
Today I ordered my favorite classic combination of Chicken and Waffles. The menu stated they had added strawberries so i was excited to try the new addition. When my waitress delivered my plate I was surprised to say the least. At first glance i couldn't even tell there was chicken on the plate. Upon further investigation, I discovered a miniature fried chicken cutlet hidden between the waffle halves. It took about three bites to finish the chicken and it definitely left more to be desired. I instinctively asked for a side of the chicken tenders that used to be served in the chicken and waffle combo.
I wound up getting the chicken tender meal so i could get a potato side with them. My home fries were cooked perfectly crispy just like I had asked for them. I got a side cup of honey mustard for my chicken and discovered that this was new as well. Instead of the lighter sauce they used to serve, Cosmos has made a switch to a thicker and heavier honey mustard dressing. I definitely preferred the lighter sauce over the new dressing.
I appreciate the pillar that Cosmos is in the local food scene. I will continue to dine here in the future. I would love to see the chicken tenders put back into the chicken and waffle combo. It is definitely worth checking out if you've never been in to dine before. Thank you Cosmos for your great hospitality and keep up...
Read moreI had previously enjoyed my experience at cosmos with my partner last week. Service was quick, friendly, and the food was affordable and tasty. Today I decided to bring one of my friends here so she can try it out too. We looked at their hours and saw that the restaurant closes at 3pm. We arrive at 1:45pm and were seated quickly. The hostess said that she would bring us menus right away. Around 15-20 min have passed and a server has not been assigned to us. At this point, we had no menus or drinks, just silverware already set up on the table. There were maybe 3-4 other tables being served so it wasn't too busy, which gave me some confusion on why we were waiting so long. My friend tells me I should call someone over but I know that I have grown too impatient at this point to even enjoy the food just because of the delay in service. By the time 2:05 hits, my friend and I were thinking now there's less than an hour before closing and we won't have enough time to eat let alone be given menus to decide on what to eat. We decide to just simply walk out. A server politely greets us and the hostess avoids eye contact with neither me nor my friend. We can't help but think that we were purposely being avoided as a way to be...
