I had a chance to visit Draft Taproom and Coffee today and I really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere has a little something for everyone. Whether you want to sit at the bar, sit at a stool along the windows. Looking out at Wells Street or chill in the 1970s style lounge there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable, and inviting and I can't wait to go back.
I was greeted at the bar when I entered by a very friendly staff member who explained to me how things operated and encouraged me to order a beer and grab a seat. They have a decent selection of craft beers and a head scouted out the menu before I had come so I had an idea of what I wanted to order.
I ordered the chicken Philly pizza. It has a white sauce base and typical Philly vegetables with chicken. I feel like the pizza could have used more chicken but, that didn't detract from how good it was. The crust was perfectly crisp and had a touch of some kind of garlic seasoning on the crust which just set apart the taste of the ingredients on the pizza. The white sauce with the mushrooms and the chicken was amazing and the rest of the vegetables complimented nicely.
I had a couple of craft beers so I ended up spending about $40 with tip as the pizza was $22. I only have the pizza so I'll get another meal out of that.
They have live music sometimes usually on Saturdays so I would check their website and figure out when they do that. This would be a great place to invite some friends and just hang out for a while which I intend to do...
Read moreI've been here three days in a row now, so safe to say this place is my latest hyper fixation. And for good reason. There is never a time where you could look at your watch and say "wow now is not a great time to go to Draft" because they're serving up bangers all day long. Breakfast? They have coffee. I don't know why, but having the ability to walk from my house to a local coffee shop increases the serotonin in my brain tenfold. I don't make the rules, I just benefit from them. Lunch? They've got pizza. I got a goat cheese and rosemary pizza and I'm not saying you have to get it, but it was the best pizza topping combo I ever had. Dinner? They've got wings, salad, sandwiches. Dessert? Covered. Late night libations? They have cocktails, beer and wine. They also have NA beverages for those that want to enjoy a tasty drink without the alcohol. The art on the walls is a collection of businesses from the Wells Street Corridor. They partner with TONS of local places. They had live music last night. At this point, I'm convinced they couldn't go wrong if they tried. This place has become my favorite hangout in a matter of 72 hours and I've basically made it my life mission to support this business so hard they NEVER leave. Join me...
Read moreDraft Taproom always has a great selection of craft beers and a an equally great food menu. You can find their current beer menu on Untappd. All of their beers are from local breweries and they frequently carry 2Toms, Hop River, Fortlandia, Science Project, and Hoplore (to name a few). On our last visit we had the dill pickle pizza, a special which wasn't on the regular menu. You can order pizzas in either New York or Detroit style. I don't recall ever having Detroit style so we went with that. It's a very-deep-dish pizza with a thick dough that's more like a dense sourdough bread. Because it's so thick, the ratio of toppings to crust was out of whack. Although it was definitely not lacking in flavor, I would have appreciated a few more toppings. The dough was amazing, obviously hand made, and it had lots of tasty crunchy bits all over the outside. Whether you go New York or Detroit you'll get a delicious...
