For kids to walk around and not die from bored it worked out. For the parents who booked the place it wasn't so great. The staff did not communicate with each other. The woman who helped us at the desk seemed to be new; which wasn't the problem. She was even frustrated from her co-workers on their horrible communication. They did not walk us to our room. She directed us to a room that wasn't ours. We took all our stuff there and I even asked a worker could he make sure that it was ours. Of course this kid was on his phone. He didn't even get up to check. He said it was. Of course it wasn't. Even when we tried to book the place they were not descriptive. They were brief and said they'd supply drinks cupcakes and beverages for 15 kids. The room wasn't ready when we arrived. Which we did arrive early (not a problem for them) she let us bring gifts in but became unprofessional when she yelled at a family member who tried to drop a gift off in the room. We had the mad scientist theme. They give a free lab coat with that theme. The lab coat was more of a nurses scrub material. When I asked her what exactly was being provided since they did a crap job of letting us know. She told me they the 15 included kids and adults. They had nothing for parents. She had cups spread out and they had 1/4 of juice in them. I rushed to the store to get stuff that I thought was already provided. Also they made rockets and ice cream. The ice cream part was cool from the liquid nitrogen smoke but you could not see anything she was doing. She mixed everything in a black crop pot bowl. You couldnt even see what was going on. A lot of the science stations where closed. This is definitely a older science central. It needs a...
Read moreScience Central was always a fun place I went to from school field trips to coming back for rock trades. I haven't went in there for a long time so a lot has changed when I was now an adult to go visit in with a friend who hadn't been in the building before. As much as we interacted with a few things.. it wasn't as exciting unless you were a young kid coming in here. Science Central says its a place for all ages.. but from everything I saw.. you would be easily bored if your an adult there. Everything I seen was more hands on and nothing much exciting for us adults than sightseeing a few things. I remember when they had the very dark room where it was a fun experience to see pitch darkness and using your senses to find a way out.. but it seems its been removed.. and I know how many kids cry for being stuck and too dark finding a way out long ago.. but, I believe the experience was meant for teenagers and adults. I kinda miss more interesting experiences like that.. If you loved science central as a kid, I don't think it will be fun to come back to as an adult. Unfortunately.. I don't think I'll come back till there are more fun and interesting science experiences that be fun for Adults and keeps adults who love science and invested. The way I witnessed it, there was more of the variety targeted for the kids and having Science Central only be a fun place to take elementary kids to, not as...
Read moreEdit: We paid ~$600 for a 1.5 hour birthday party. The party planners did not communicate with the staff at all and there ended up being several issues and delays. The kids had fun, and they did the 2 things we paid extra for, but honestly it was disorganized. It really felt like the party planners planned nothing and told nobody anything. Front desk didn't know where the party was even at and seemed surprised there was one. The 2 staff members that did the 3 activities did their best, but Science Central was clearly understaffed for the party and its normal capacity.
This place is amazing!!!! We have come back multiple times and each time there seems to be something new. There's animals, and occasionally you can pet one, and a young kids play area. They have activities involving physics, land masses, earth sciences, astronomy, chemistry, etc. Nearly everything can be done hands on. We came once when our kid was ~2 and they were honestly too small, but now that they're 4, everything is available and fun! I would suggest this place for any kids 4 and up, and if you bring younger ones they'll still have a few things to do, like the play area, but won't be able to enjoy most of the museum. This place has officially become my favorite family activity...
