The food is fresh and hot. The service is pretty poor, the wait staff has language barriers which makes it difficult to order and ask questions especially if you have never eaten at this restaurant. The lights flickered on and off throughout the entire restaurant constantly which was very uncomfortable. Someone was playing music on their phone through the overhead speakers and constantly changed the music playing to accommodate what they liked there was also a lot of silent time while they decided which songs to play. There was also a lengthy wait in between refills and asking for napkins. Your food also comes out at different times so don't expect to eat together all at once. This was our experience. Not all the food was piping hot for instance I ordered shrimp momias and the inside of them were not hot all the way through. There are many wrinkles to be ironed out for this place to step up their service atmosphere and food temps the lighting and music there are many other options and places to eat. Hopefully they can fix these issues. Although this was my experience I suggest you give it a try and experience the food because the location in Indianapolis is ten stars this...
Read moreSelf described as Mexican Seafood. This is a difficult restaurant for me to rate for a couple of reasons, part of it because of my personal preferences. 'San 'Blas' is a more 'traditional' based fare which seems to cross over cultures on the food. Our party all ordered Lunch Specials. Which consisted of Soft Shells Tacos with chicken. The flavor of the food was very good. The vegetables were cooked together to a nice consistency, not overcooked. I am not a fan of their version of a soft taco. It is a more...'raw', traditional shell that I just don't happen to like, but can appreciate. When shared with another person at the table they struggled with the way the chicken was prepared. The strips were very thin when cooked, made them a bit tough. I was fine with it. That person had the Fish Tacos (2 on the plate) which are large and filled with vegetables and a beautiful presentation. She loved it using the sauce that comes with it and devoured it which we thought might be too much. She proved us wrong. ...
Read moreThis is a gem of a restaurant that we had never tried before even though we love Mexican food. The focus is on seafood, so the menu options are quite different from your typical tacos, burritos, etc. (Although they do have a few things along those lines). But you should go for the fish and seafood! We started off with what looked like the standard chips and salsa, but it came with a small ceviche which was great. For entrees I tried the chicharrones de pescado (small pieces of deep fried fish) which were crispy and flavorful. My husband ordered the pescado sarandeado (another fried fish dish) which was also wonderful. Both came with tortillas and frijoles. Instead of the usual margarita variations, they offer different types of micheladas (beer with different flavorings like lime juice and hot sauce). I loved my "petroleo" michelada, but my husband went for the guanabana lemonade which he loved. We will definitely be going back soon to try the ceviche - they have several kinds. Branch out and give this...
