If you're looking for authentic Greek food, I do not recommend this place. We love Greek and Mediterranean food and were really excited by this place, but it was a flop. Yeah, the owner greets you at the door, checks on you, thanks you for coming, stops by your table, acts friendly, but completely deflects and ignores any comments if you aren't satisfied with the food. We had that gyro platter, lentil stew, and some side dish of Greek style green beans. It was disappointing. The gyro meat and pita was ok, but it was kind of dry and bland. There is way better out there. And everything else tasted like it slopped out of a can of mummified vegetables. Spaghettios taste better than that stew did. Greasy, bland, underwhelming, not Greek. My husband studied abroad in Greece for a full Summer, said the food there was absolutely amazing and fresh. Bold, savory, and beautiful. We've visited other Greek style restaurants before, so we're rather familiar with Greek flavors. This restaurant's food was not that. What made this visit even worse was follow-up with the owner. I wanted to be honest and thought Hey maybe the owner will appreciate honest feedback. Nope. He comes by and asks how the food was, what was wrong, and I answer quietly and politely. He tells me, "No, this IS authentic. I am Greek." And apparently telling him that you've had better Greek food before and that you're husband went to Greece recently and has EATEN Greek food recently, doesn't make a difference to him. The owner insists three more times that "I know Greek food because I am from Greece". No, Greek food does not taste like puddles of veggie grease and gristle. Doesn't feel so great when the owner tells you that you're wrong and that his food is flawless. It was terribly awkward and the owner is too proud to handle any criticism and will lie through his teeth about it....
Read moreWhen the hostess went to seat us, she checked with the waitress in that area and make sure she can handle us and she had yelled back from the kitchen that she could. Well obviously she couldn't because it took her almost 10 minutes to get our order. The hostess had come by and seeing we had not even had our drinks ordered yet asked us if we wanted anything besides water and I replied, "I'd like to place our order". So she went back and got the waitress who finally came out. Now granted I had been to the other of Joanna locations so I know how the food should taste. First of all the soup we were served had mostly just broth and hardly any substance. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was way overcooked and super dry. Our fries tasted stale like they had said under a hot lamp for a while. I have never experienced that at the other Joanna's. When the hostess took my bill she asked me how everything was and I said it could have been a lot better and she just gave me a deer in the headlight look and said nothing as she took my money. So since she didn't bother asking me I said rather loudly, "my hamburger was overcooked and very dry to eat". She asked me if I had said anything to my waitress and I said how could I do that when I waitress never came and checked back with us to see how our food was? I couldn't even get the waitresses attention to get some extra napkins. So did the hostess take off anything from the bill because of the bad experience? Heck no. Seems like all three of these restaurants only care about price gouging people and getting crappy service. I also was not impressed with the menu because it was completely different than the other two restaurants. Not near the selections. I will not be...
Read moreWe were rudely treated by the waitress Kelci and the male host that acted like we were ignorant idiots because of the misrepresentation of the menu. Their two biscuits and gravy meal, is actually one biscuit broken in half to make two pieces. However, the half order of biscuits and gravy comes with one whole biscuit not split into two pieces. When we asked about this to the waitress, she replied “I didn’t print the menu. You didn’t read the menu did you? That’s the way it comes.” And in no way at all did they try to rectify, compensate, or attend to our concerns. The very worst of it all is that they acknowledged that they knew it. As a matter fact, it was quite rude and belittling the way they said we could not read a menu. Highly unprofessional. And above all they were doing this in front of a new employee that was getting trained. Overall, the management and these two employees specifically at Joanna‘s on Jefferson are horrible and need to be retrained on professional etiquette. They need to take a look at their employees and their problems, HOWEVER!!! I will say the food tasted great. Kudos to the Cook!! Thank you. You might want to find a better place to work because they are...
