Local Apple Cart — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

The Local Apple Cart is amazing, well deserved of the (current) 4.9 stars. This is the only ice cream shop in Fort Wayne I know of which makes their own ice cream, and right on site. We just had to try the signature Electric Works (?) because we were told it's their best seller AND it was just out of the machine! The color will throw you off because it's an electric blue/green color but there's no mistaking this is an outstanding pineapple ice cream. Every time we're at Union Market we'll need to be sure and leave room (okay make room) for Local Apple Cart's ice cream. What's funny is I was originally drawn to the store because it had an excellent craft beer menu posted. First I had Alpha Klaus by 3 Floyds, and later I went back and got the Maple Mood by Boulevard Brewing Co. On my comment that the Maple Mood would go really good over some of that ice cream, the owner informed me "that's what it's for!" She knows ice cream and craft beer, awesome! And... yay! another reason...

Local Apple Cart makes all their own ice cream and as far as I know, only one other place in Fort Wayne does this! Not only does it taste better, but also the owner is always able to tweak the recipes and listens to customer feedback. They make a variety of unique flavors including seasonal ones like Christmas Sugar Cookie and Orange Cranberry. They also have a few alcohol-infused ice creams like Bourbon Vanilla, which is a fun twist for the 21+ crowd. Their soft serve is also made in-house (the only one in Fort Wayne that makes their own soft serve) and there's a vegan option for it that I really like. There are also several vegan ice cream flavors to choose from. You can also buy pints to take home. The staff is friendly and service is prompt. Hands down, Local Apple Cart is the best ice cream...

This place is the real deal! I love ice cream, and I am very picky about it. The local apple cart is a return to that fresh home made ice cream you always dream of having, but settle on lesser frozen dairy treats. You can stop settling! There is so much going on here that one review cannot do it justice. They make the ice cream in house and it is not delivered! What they do deliver on is a wonderful experience that is unique in its offerings and customer service.
