When I move to a new city, I seek out a decent hole-in-the-wall-style bar to nourish my own personal social needs.
A bar which doesn't overwhelm me with pedantic social cliches, euphemisms, and platitudes.
Pulver's Pub has repeatedly and sufficiently satisfied that psychic orifice of mine.
Also, there are at least four gay men who are regulars there, including myself. Which is not to say that Pulver's is a gay bar. It's just a pub.
And the crucial function of a pub is:
"Being the deft, melding of and exposure of interpersonal social experiences. To deepen the understanding of one another we have so as to not be so quick to dismiss the humanity of one another."

Read moreFast and friendly bar service. I'm not sure if food was an option; I did not inquire. Was there when it was an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) night; I found the show nice and entertaining. The drink prices were reasonable. Loved that they had a couch to relax on. It was a nice change of pace. There is a nice patio out front where smoking is permitted as it is prohibited indoors. The bathroom was clean. Will definitely go to another show there...
Read moreWatched security let in 20 year old girls. I was going to order a drink and the girls next to me got carded. Their birthday clearly showed 2004 on their ID. It’s 2024… impossible for them to be 21. I immediately left. Not sticking around a place like this. The security guards are real weird and huge egos too. Act like they’re invincible. Watched them try to bully some guy when I first got there , then someone started recording them...
