A lot of thought seems to go into each dish. Has all the new trends of microgreens and foraged ingredients. The cocktails have infusions that you wouldn't always think of such as cilantro infused tequila or Sweet Pea infused vodka. The Midwest Mai Thai was the best. Also got the Honey Creek which was particularly refreshing. These turkey fritters they had were not overly breaded but thin and crispy outside, and loved drizzling it with the gravy. Their pasta of course was on point. Love the green spaghetti which was delightfully Savory yet tart. The gnocchi was quite Savory with all kinds of microgreens I wasn't sure of in flowers adding an earthy undertone. Wish we had known about the half-off spaghetti hour as we just missed it. Anyway certainly worth a stop. Service generally quite good. Have an open kitchen that you could look into. Oh also the menu is small so I didn't sit there forever agonizing between what I want to pick. 20+ a plate. Wish we had also gotten the Oysters; they looked really scrumptious. 4.6/5

A great, unique experience in Fort Wayne that's worth it to try something you never have before. We had fantastic service, and my pork belly entree was fantastic. However the Tri-Tip, while cooked perfectly and paired with a delicious pan sauce, didn't meld with bokchoy in a satisfying manner. The tempora fried oyster mushroom had an amazing texture that was overpowered by the acid punch of the mustard and pickles. And the cocktail we ordered was truly one of the least drinkable things I've had since college. But listen, I'll always award points for ambition and Rune has it in spades. Combined with a great atmosphere and passionate servers, it's well worth checking out. I'd love to see the menu get tightened up or a tasting menu option to get quick hits of the innovation. We'll be back for sure, but know what your in for, because they still have a few edges to sand down.

We loved brunch at Rune on opening weekend. Standouts for me were the sweet and savory parmesan gougeres (from the regular menu), which are lightweight pastries. They have a bit of a kick with the chili crisp, but definitely not overpowering. Admittedly, seeing "stinging nettles" in the description of the omelette was off-putting in my mind, but you gotta just trust in chef. 😂 They are cooked down to a melt-in-your-mouth texture with some citrus/acidity that is so great on top of the cheesey omelette. Definitely leave room for the carrot and sweet potato tea cake with butterscotch. So good with coffee to close out brunch. I wouldn't mind seeing more vegetarian options on the brunch menu, but there's definitely enough to choose from the regular menu which is also served at the same time. Grateful that such a wonderful restaurant took over this spot.

Very fun menu and my food was perfectly-prepared. I loved the poutine and celery root "rarebit" we opened with (I'm not going to describe these dishes in detail, I feel like it's best expereinced not quite knowing what you're going to get - it's definitely made to subvert your expectations). My main was beans and pork shoulder, which I'll admit sounds humble but WOW was it extremely flavorful and hit like a warm comfy sweater for my tastebuds. The cocktails were adventurous and bold and I'm likely to come back for those alone (beet-infused gin? Kicking myself for not thinking of that myself. Just delicious). The coffee? Okay yeah they can probably do a little better on the coffee. I'll grant that one.

I'm gonna be real, I've lived in Fort Wayne for half a century, and honestly I feel like this spot is maybe a little too challenging for most eaters in this region. And it SHOULDN'T be - I'm not saying this as a ding against Rune, but against Fort Waynians who will reject food for not meeting their "expectations", when it turns out that their expectations are usually bizarre, clown-ass nonsense like thinking that a tuna steak should be grey all the way through.

All I'm saying is, if you care about having access to good, creative, and even maybe a little challenging food in this area, then definitely visit this place sooner rather than later. It's very rare that an absolute gem like this actually lasts here in our infinite plane of Applebee's, Texas Roudhouses, and other somehow even more utterly boring choices. And if you feel ashamed that I called out your Applebee's habit? Good....

Amazing Service, Incredible Oysters, and Cozy Vibes

I came in on a Monday, just 10 minutes before happy hour ended, and was immediately impressed by how welcoming our server was. She made sure we could still order from the happy hour menu before it closed, such a kind and thoughtful touch! (I wish I remembered her name, you rock!) If she didn’t have an answer to one of our questions, she checked in with a more experienced staff member to make sure we were taken care of. Truly great service.

Now the oysters… hands down the best I’ve had in Fort Wayne honestly even better than the ones I had at a Michelin-starred spot in Cincinnati. We had to stop ourselves from ordering a ridiculous amount! We also tried the green spaghetti, and it was chef’s kiss. The portion size was just right: satisfying but not overfilling. The noodles had the perfect texture, and the sauce was absolutely addictive.

The atmosphere is super cute and inviting. Drinks were appropriately strong, and I even loved the small detail that each glass was different—it made everything feel extra thoughtful...
