Before I begin, just know that I and my wife like La Playa Maya. The atmosphere is good, their servers are great, the food delicious. But this review is aimed more at the food prep than anything, hence the 3 stars. Pictured are 2 taco salads we had today at lunch (12/13/24) sometime between 2 & 2:30pm at the Sunset St. location in Ft. Worth. Unlike other taco salads in a flour tortilla shell, these are served in a bowl ... which is ok. We're both on low carb diets, so we don't need the flour shell anyway. The issue in question is the amount of water found in the taco salads themselves (please see pics). It's waaaay too much. The wife poured her water out into the smaller bowl. The bowl with the "white dot" is mine ... the dot is a light reflection. I imagine if Gordon Ramsay were to see this, trust me ... it would be enough to make him cringe. Indeed, it's definitely not the sort of thing one should expect to see at all from a taco salad, but if they must, the amount of water should be miniscule or next to none at all. On a guess ... I attribute it to how the lettuce is drained. Not sure really. And I'm equally uncertain of the method used to drain water from lettuce, but in my humble opinion, if you're going to serve a taco salad, especially in a solid bowl, better care & attention needs to be on making sure there is little to next to nothing in the way of water in the bottom of that bowl. It soaks the salads ingredients ... beef, cheese, tomatoes, etc ... making way for a very distasteful salad, which is what we had. We ate them though because we were hungry after all. But we were expecting a taco salad, not a "soggy salad". I hope the powers that be may see this and take the necessary steps to correct this problem, as it may just be a food prep issue only, but certainly one that is fixable. Our server was excellent. Unfortunately, I did not catch her name, & the only thing on our ticket is Server: 0009 ... and we were apparently seated at table 63, with an invoice # of 32 if that helps to identify her. Our experience overall wasn't a bad one, but we are leary about ordering taco salads from La Playa Maya in the future for fear of getting a soggy salad.

I had the pleasure of dining at La Playa Maya Mexican Restaurant recently, and I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's decor is simple yet elegant, creating a comfortable and relaxing dining experience. The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I started my meal with a delicious guacamole dip, which was creamy and flavorful. For my main course, I chose the enchiladas verdes, and they were absolutely divine. The sauce was perfectly seasoned, and the chicken was tender and juicy. The service at La Playa Maya was impeccable. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and she made sure that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The restaurant also has an extensive selection of margaritas and other cocktails, which were delicious and refreshing. Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience at La Playa Maya Mexican Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Mexican dining experience. Here are some of the specific things I loved about my meal: * The guacamole dip was creamy and flavorful. * The enchiladas verdes were perfectly seasoned and the chicken was tender and juicy. * The margaritas were delicious and refreshing. * The service was attentive and knowledgeable. * The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. I would definitely go back to La Playa Maya Mexican Restaurant again, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Mexican dining experience.

🌮 Great experience at La Playa Maya on Sunset Drive in Fort Worth - enjoyed a wide selection of Mexican food from traditional dishes to more contemporary options in a comfortable and cozy atmosphere! Food: As soon as we were seated, we were given chips and salsa. My sister ordered their queso concoction (I wish I had a better term for it) and it was alright. The dishes were where the flavors shined. I ordered their fish tacos - crispy breading and delicious sauce, but a little too much red cabbage. My sister ordered their fajitas - the fajita meat was tender and flavorful. My wife ordered the cowboy enchiladas - definitely a lot of queso, but who’s complaining. And our boys split a chicken quesadilla. To top it off, we ordered their flan for desert. Overall, great food! Service: Our server was kind and checked on us frequently. She gave the suggestion for the fish tacos over the carne asada that I was debating over, and I’m glad she made the suggestion. Every one was friendly and made the experience that much better!

I have dined here once before without any problem or concerns, but after dining here last night with a large party a lot of red flags were raised. The waitress seemed to be very new and there was an obvious language barrier between us. Not the main problem. Even pointing to items on the menu as a way to communicate, our orders were still not entirely correct. We didn't want to ruin a night celebrating a birthday over petty things. Even after telling the waitress we were celebrating a birthday, she was very hesitant/confused on what to do. We had to ask repeatedly for her to bring out a dessert. After leaving the restaurant, two people, including myself realized that our debit cards were never return to us. When I walked in to the hostess to ask for it, a group of the wait staff were gathered around whispering and appeared very surprised for my returning, as if they had not just seen me moments before. I gave them my name, and I watched as they went through billfolds looking for my card. The hostess then opened the register and sorted through files of "stolen" cards. I am still in disbelief. I will never dine here again. I am on high alert for suspicious activity on my card, and will have the police on speed dial to report theft. It;s only a...
