Out the gate the service was well above standard, from the host to my server Jan(pronounced Yan), I felt like I’d been invited as a personal guest of the owner. I will say for my first time experience, my Server(Jan) was extremely patient with me and my indecisive appetite, he was also well read/informed on the menu. he seemed quite rehearsed and refined in his personal recommendations, it was refreshing. It made ordering my dinner simple and so far I have yet to be disappointed.(except for the complimentary bread, it was dull and tasted store bought/premade(old).
So far I’ve tried a glass of Red( Chianti, DOCG, Caposaldo, Tuscany, Italy,2020), recommendation from the Server( the bread(1st round/ 👎) and the Toasted Ravioli(Savory, 5/5 recommend) It had been a real experience, I will say the atmosphere is nice but the music kind of borders between family restaurant and a 60s Diner) just a little less taste of Italy, still it’s nothing you can’t enjoy while you munch on your meal.
I’m currently on my first entree, and it looks fantastic. The pork tenderloin was the first of my a Plate Recommendations from Jan. The flavors were delicate and the veggies were blended beautifully with the magic of the dish. I really enjoyed the sauce they used and didn’t overwhelm the natural flavors of the meat. The dish was delectable and soft (like the smell of leftover cologne); you kept trying to take a deeper breath (Bigger bite) to chase the flavor and keep it on your tongue. It was 5/5 Delicious.
My server has been fantastic. I let him know that the only thing I’ve been disappointed in so far this meal was the bread and he told me he could fix that. We shall see what he’s cooking up, on to my next entree. The second round of bread was substantially better than the first after I let him know my concerns. If this is the typical house standard, then I feel confident in stating; you will be satisfied on your visit.
My second entree has arrived and all I can say is that I am a very happy camper. This was a great choice by Jan. I am extremely satisfied with the parings, I’m Drinking “Viognier, LenParadou, Mediterranee, France 2021” with the Chicken Genoviz my meal was exceptional and I don’t think I’ve been this satisfied with an eating experience since Table 26
All in all, I give my experience at Oliva a 5/5. The food and service were above and beyond my expectations. I look forward to a new list of recommendations from Jan on...
Read moreI honestly try to be fair and give people the benefit of a doubt when doing reviews. I understand things don’t always go my way. Allow me to share our experience at Olivia’s on Sunday, August 7th at 3 pm in Keller , Texas. My wife and I live in Waxahachie, Tx. We have been looking for a good Italian place as my wife enjoys Italian food and I wanted to make her happy. We drove 90 minutes to Olivas. We were seated promptly and were greeted nicely by our server, an elderly gentleman named Kenneth. Things started out good enough. He brought us our drinks quickly. We had questions about the menu. We ordered some appetizers, Double garlic cheese bread, some toasted tortellini and a small Ceasar salad. The Ceasar salad came out. Not bad but kind of small but ok. No Double garlic cheese bread and no toasted tortellini. After a good 30 minute wait we reminded Kenneth that we were still waiting on our appetizers. He said it’s coming out soon. He then comes to our table and tells us that our entrees of The Trio will be out soon. He also tells us that the kitchen somehow forgot about our Double Garlic cheese bread and our toasted tortellini. He says he has them coming right away. As soon as they have them done he will serve them to us. We are about 70% into our meals when the Double garlic cheese bread comes out. No toasted tortellini. None. After bringing out the Double Garlic cheese bread Kenneth disappears. A young man then proceeds to be our waiter. He finishes out our meal with us. We finish and pay out with him. Still no Kenneth. No apology from Kenneth. No attempt to offer us anything to make things right. At least don’t charge us for the Double Garlic Cheese bread which was a joke by the way (see pic of bread ! Joke). No sign of Kenneth until I complete the bill and have left an undeserving 15% to Kenneth. See pic of bill. I wrote on the ticket “Dissapointing” but I still tipped. I have included pics of our entrees. Drenched in marinara sauce I could not taste anything else. Neither could my wife. We were extremely disappointed in the service and in the food. Will we go again? Probably not. We would rather go to Olive Garden. I read review after review and they were all great reviews. Goes to show you you cannot believe everything you read on line. This is an honest true and fair review provided by Robert Montalbo. Please see...
Read moreOliva popped into our google search while we were in Ft. Worth. When we saw it had gluten-free options, we decided to try it out. The restaurant was packed upon arrival, and we were told it was Graduation Weekend. We were seated within just a few minutes of our arrival.
I asked for the gluten-free menu - a lot of options on it, including desserts. However, the menu item I ordered came out with spaghetti noodles instead of linguine, without warning. I chose not to say anything because pasta is pasta. I also ordered the minestrone and was surprised by the huge portion. It tasted good and was gluten-free - no pasta or beans in the minestrone, so basically vegetable soup.
My husband ordered the tortellini with chicken, and while there was ample chicken, there were few vegetables on the dish. I found the same problem with my meal - a vegetarian option, with very few veggies and mostly pasta. The pasta was swimming in water, which might be traditional, but if you like your pasta 'drier,' you'll need to ask them to drain it before placing it into the dish. Plenty of leftovers to take home - had 2 more small meals from them.
Oliva is well-lit when sitting in the front room or near the windows, but very dim near the back of it, toward the bathrooms and kitchen. The furniture is nothing special - the use of plastic placemats instead of tablecloths is not impressive.
The service was good, and everyone appeared to be very busy, friendly, and willing.
If you imbibe in Limoncello, you don't want to miss the housemade! It is served in a cordial glass, ice cold, and very refreshing.
Overall, I feel this is a nice, casual, family eatery that has confidence in the service of their clientele. Oliva has plenty of options, and the food and service are good while not being...
