I have been to Elote several times. I do like their food overall. To me, Elote is a different version of Fuzzy's. Same format but the menu is almost like a Tex-Mex "sit-down" restaurant. All of the food I have had was good. It won't knock your socks off and it isn't the aforementioned comparable restaurant. That being said, it solidly delivers their own unique style of Tex-Mex in a "quick bite to eat" format. As far as value goes, I have never left hungry (which is a big thing for me as I'm a larger individual and usually eat more than an average person). The pic shown is a shredded chicken burrito and I paid the extra $1.00 to have it smothered in Ranchero sauce. It was definitely above average but not really more than that. The sauce is on point IMO. The burrito had too much refried beans and not enough chicken for my liking. However, it was large enough that I could have shared it with someone and we both be full. I also got some "Elote Special" which is that small bowl in the top left corner. The taste was awesome. However, it is literally just corn with their special cheese/seasoning blend. No chips, nothing else...for $3. If it didn't taste so good, I would have probably complained. Not great value on that. Their guac (big for me as I'm a huge guac critic!) is just OK. It has way too much lime juice. In my experience, it seems like they pre-make it in large batches early in the day and let it sit as it was only about 11:45am and it was darker than it would have been if it were fresh. Perhaps I got yesterday's batch...who knows. There is not really any service to speak of, so I can't really comment on that. I gave this restaurant 4 stars because of their solid delivery of Tex-Mex, good value and good execution. I would recommend eating here and I will return myself...just not...
Read moreNot authentic Mexican. Food was not what I expected. Steak fajitas were very chewy and not what I'm used to for the price. I rather pay a few dollars more and have better quality meat. The Charro beans were not Charro at all. Tasted like a chili. They had no sausage, bacon, jalapeños etc. The service was excellent but a little over the top imo since it's not a typical wait staff place but still got asked if there was anything I needed over 15 times by 4 or 5 people. Very nice of them but it took away from my experience with my family. This is more like an On The Border or Fuzzy's Taco. Refried beans were a bit dry. Don't want to assume but they looked and tasted like can beans(not from scratch). The salsa for chips had no flavor other than tomato, hot salsa for tacos was also store bought . Chipotle is more Mexican. This is about as Mexican as Taco Bell. Now to the 2 things only thing I liked. The concept of ordering and getting your own things is great for families on a budget who can't afford the extra 15-20% to tip. The ...Maragrita... I did like the margarita. It was perfect in the sense of sweet to strong. They did look a bit orange and when I tried it, it did taste like they pour orange juice in it. I make mine with orange liqueur and they never taste like this one. It was good, just threw me off a bit. I would not come back. The good news for the restaurant is that everything I listed can be improved. Maybe others are okay with the processed salsas but you cant call it authentic Mexican or Mexican at all. This is more Tex-Mex. Great...
Read moreI'm really impressed with this place. It was my first visit and the staff member walked me through the menu and made me some suggestions according to my tastes. The food was outstanding and it was reasonably priced for what I got. You can judge a Mexican restaurant by their jalapenos. If the jalepenos are not good it's a pretty good indicator that the rest of it will be sub par. Theirs were perfect. Great flavor without being overly spicy. The queso and guacamole were both awesome and the cheese they use on the main dish was really good. No cheap stuff here. I will be back to this place. I just hope they stay in business because their prices are really low for what you get. My only drawback was the salsa was a little too sweet for my tastes but it was still passable and had a good flavor other than that. Glad I stopped by...
Update...
Went back for a second time and this time got the food to go. I was just as impressed as I was when I went the first time. It was relatively quick considering the quality of food. You're gonna wait a little longer than you would for "fast food" but that is to be expected. The manager even remembered me from my first visit which was impressive. I think I've found...
