Szechuan in Ft Worth is incredible. In business for over 40 years for a reason. First and last time customer here. Already a bad sign when they don’t even serve Jasmine tea or hot green tea here. Unsweetened black tea is available though. The food wasn’t made fresh to order; everything tasted like it came out of a microwave or warmer. The “peking” duck had no Peking flavor on what little bits of crispy skin was on the platter. It was more like a dry fried duck and the wraps that came with it were tasteless and cold. It’s like having a thin cold flour tortilla straight out of the package. Want the flavor of sandy grease in your mouth coated with generic dipping plum sauce? Then eat this. Nothing sizzling with this shrimp soup. It was thick and tasted like a sweet and sour shrimp bowl with rice crispies. Eggplant with garlic sauce - Swamped with sauce that didn’t taste garlicky or spicy. Greasy and overloaded with water chestnuts. Broccoli and beef - Decent, but would I drive 30min for decent broccoli and beef when literally Panda Express does even better? Pork Egg Foo Yong- okay at best. Service- Sunday at peak dinner hours (6:00-7:30pm) seated quickly, not crowded, waitress was friendly and shared a funny story, refills were frequently brought and dishes were cleared constantly, so probably the only good thing here. Every dish minus the duck came with a choice of fried rice or steamed rice. Again lukewarm and tasteless fried rice that doesn’t match the portion amount given with the entree. It’s sad that the service is good, but the food needs improvement.

This place is great! Super relaxing atmosphere and friendly service. Our waitress was super helpful and friendly. The food was very good, it tasted fresh and was served at a superb temperature. It is a little higher than some places but that's because of the quality of the food. The portions are also very generous. The fried meat dumplings were out of this world delicious! We ordered three different dishes plus the fried meat dumplings. The fried rice was soft and flavorful. The egg drop soup was great and not super watered down like you get at some places. I will definitely be back and recommend everyone to give this place a try! It may be your new favorite spot! You're welcome!

This restaurant is a textbook example of 1). A Fort Worth institution, on the scale of Joe T. Garcia's, and 2). obviously a place that won't pay the Yelp extortion. But, to the food, before I explain.

I started eating here over 40 years ago, not long after they opened. My boss at NTSU Health Sciences up Camp Bumpy a ways had to eat here for lunch at least once a week, I would go along, and I was hooked. I ate there last week. I can tell you the food has not changed one iota. I use a number of their preparations as the gold standard when I am cooking those dishes. This the thinking person's Szechuan Cuisine, even though it's not 100% authentic, because the differences are down to creative inspiration, and, by and large, I think it works. I definitely appreciate the attitude.

So, to the negative reviews you might have seen...they have a very predictable ring/pattern to them. First, Szechuan's listing on Yelp has the "other nearby suggestions" listed ahead of what you actually searched for, which is a dead give-away that the people you searched for aren't paying the extortion. Then, there's the negative reviews. The always go right to the heart of either what people fear or what their restaurant can't deliver. Some try to act like they have inside information, like "so-and-so had the day off; maybe that's why it was so bad". Yeah, it's just a plausible way of lying and saying, "It was bad". And you almost never seen fair-to-middling assessments. Right. 90% of the people that eat there give it a 4 or 5, but the ones that don't like it all give it a 1. Maybe three just isn't popular. Bollocks. It's totally contrived. What a bunch of oxygen theives. Try to run down a citiy's venerable establishment because they won't buy...

The worst place ever. The host was so rude and disrespectful. She didn’t care about my order.

The order supposed to be ready 3:44 PM. I asked the host and she said just give me a few more minutes. She didn’t let the kitchen know about the order. She was so rude. I waited more than 10 minutes and I left to turn off my car. I came back and I asked the host if the order was ready because supposed to be ready 15 minutes ago. She said if you don’t want to wait you can cancel and the doordash can send another driver. I said do you want to take off your shift today, she said what do you mean. I said are you here to do your job or my job? She was disrespecting me and my job. I picked up the order 4:12 PM. If you’re trying to do business like this you are wrong, or maybe you have the wrong host. Did you see what she did in that time when I was waiting for the order, nothing. She never asked the kitchen for the order. I know you have tried to do fraud like telling the drivers the order is picked up by another driver, but you are wrong man because I confirmed the order on her eyes. On my way I called the doordash to let them know about this restaurant, and they were so disappointed. The did a report to you for disrespecting drivers, they didn’t...
