Waffle House — Restaurant in Fort Worth

Today was my second time at Waffle House and my second time visiting this specific location, and honestly, it’s just been a terrible experience both times. The staff are so kind and lovely, which makes it all the more frustrating that the food is such a disappointment.

The first time I went was on October 15th around 10/11 pm after getting home from the airport. The food was mediocre—runny eggs, hashbrowns that tasted burnt, and the only redeeming factor was the waffle. I thought maybe it was my fault for going so late and that things would be better earlier in the day.

So today, I gave it another shot, arriving around 7:50 pm. I ordered the same thing as before: scrambled eggs, one waffle, and hashbrowns. This time, I even microwaved the eggs for a few seconds to avoid the runny issue. Problem solved, right? Wrong. After eating a few bites, I found a piece of eggshell in my mouth—gagged and had to toss the eggs. The hashbrowns were bland and falling apart, but they were fine enough until I found a relatively long strand of blond hair in them, like a good 3-4 inches. Absolutely disgusting. That was the last straw for me—I threw the whole meal away.

So disappointed! We have been waiting to have a Waffle House close by but this was such a bad experience. They were very understaffed. We had to wait 15 minutes for them to clean a table that was empty when we arrived, and then when we sat down it wasn’t clean. Our poor waitress was doing 4 jobs!! She was making waffles, doing dishes, waiting tables, and bussing tables. Even though our food was cold when she brought it, and she forgot our drinks, we gave her a big tip because she was so overloaded. The waffles were cold, and so was the syrup. We asked if she could heat the syrup because then it might help warm up our waffles and she said she wasn’t allowed to. What??? No warm syrup? We got the rest of our food well after the waffles, and again, cold. Then to top it off, I ended up with a bad stomachache when we got home. Maybe a coincidence, I’ll never know. I felt so bad for the people working there. Two waitresses and one cook were doing everything. Another woman was there that seemed to be in charge and she was basically just greeting people at the door. WORST customer service we have had at any restaurant. Truly. Daja was not a good waitress whatsoever and not one single employee had an idea what was going on. She had a headphone in the entire time and we had to keep clarifying what we were trying to order. Our waffles were made incorrectly but still given to us even though she knew they were wrong. When we sent them back, no one started remaking them so we ended up sitting for quite a long time waiting. Instead of coming to check on us and giving us an update of what was going on, Daja stood behind the counter gossiping with another employee meanwhile LOOKING DIRECTLY at us. We even had to ask her to get our drinks for us because she AGAIN was behind the counter talking. We even watched another server give a plate to the wrong table, sat it down in front of the customer, realized it, picked it up and then took it to the correct table 🤢 We’ve come to this location quite a few times during the day and every single time we’ve come service and food has been great.
